The best burgers in Taipei come from a small group of independent burger bars in Da’an, Xinyi, Songshan and Shilin. My number one is Comfort Burger Company in Da’an, a smash-burger counter run by Toronto-born Timothy Wong. Burger & Co., Bravo Burger and BURNT BURGER SOCIAL CLUB round out my top four. Budget NT$200 to NT$300 for a burger. And watch the clock: most of these kitchens close between lunch and dinner, and several shut on Mondays.

Where to eat the best burger in Taipei: the short answer

Head to Da’an District for smash burgers and long-running burger bars, or to Xinyi District if you are near Taipei 101. Comfort Burger Company, Burger & Co., LAY BACK and Everywhere Burger Club are in Da’an. BURNT BURGER SOCIAL CLUB, Butcher by LanPengYou, Chubby Burger and Selfish Burger are in Xinyi, most of them along Keelung Road. Bravo Burger is in Songshan. LOUIS’ BURGERS is the outlier, up in Tianmu, Shilin.

How I ranked Taipei’s burger restaurants

Every restaurant on this list appears in at least two independent sources, with coverage from 2024 to 2026 and evidence that it was open in 2025 or 2026. I cross-checked the Taipei Times (2025), the local guides wanteatfood (updated 11 October 2026) and Nico & 妮喃小語 (25 April 2026), plus Marie Claire Taiwan, Bella.tw and TVBS 食尚玩家. Where Google ratings were recorded, every pick sits at 3.9 stars or above. All facts were checked on 3 November 2026.

One name from older lists is missing, on purpose. KGB Kiwi Gourmet Burgers shows two conflicting addresses across directories, and I could not confirm it is open in 2026. I would rather send you to a door I know is open, so LAY BACK, a well-reviewed Da’an diner, takes its place. Every price comes with its source and date: Taipei menus change often, and several of these restaurants do not publish theirs online.

The 10 best burger restaurants in Taipei

1. Comfort Burger Company, Da’an: the best smash burger in Taipei

Comfort Burger Company makes Taipei’s best smash burger, and it is my top pick overall. Owner Timothy Wong is from Toronto, and the menu doesn’t hide it. The We The North (NT$280) stacks Canadian maple-syrup bacon, mushrooms, sautéed onions and a house mustard sauce. That is the one I’d order first: no other burger in this guide has a menu built this clearly around one cook’s story. The Taipei Times reviewed it in November 2025.

The restaurant claims Taiwan’s first smashed chicken burger, made with Empress Hot Sauce’s Smoke n’ Hot Honey. November 2025 prices: Wild Wild East NT$270, Teriyaki Boyz chicken burger NT$290, poutine NT$180, Hot Honey Fries NT$130. A full meal averages about NT$400. Don’t ask for swaps: the kitchen does not accept menu changes. Happy hour runs 5pm to 7pm, with two-for-one Taihu draft beer.

If you want to try the technique at home, our bacon smash burger copycat recipe walks through the press and sear step by step.

2. Burger & Co., Da’an: Taipei’s classic burger-and-fries combo

Burger & Co. is the classic burger-and-fries stop, and one of the oldest names here. The Taipei Times reviewed it in May 2014, and it was still busy in 2026. A New Yorker opened it, and the kitchen cuts its fries on site from imported Idaho potatoes. Taiwan Scene called it the best burger-and-fries combo in Taipei in 2020. On Google it holds 4.3 out of 5 from 1,816 reviews.

Ignore the lists that put it near Taipei 101. It sits on Tong’an Street in Da’an, a short walk from Xinyi Anhe MRT. Prices have moved since 2014, when a burger cost NT$170 and truffle-cheese fries NT$150. I found no current menu online, so check prices on arrival. It was cash only in 2014, and I could not confirm whether that still holds. Bring cash.

3. Bravo Burger (發福廚房), Songshan: Taipei’s veteran peanut butter burger

Bravo Burger is where to go for Taipei’s signature peanut butter burger, the 發福花生醬漢堡. It predates every other pick on this list: Business Today already treated it as an established address in 2009. Peanut butter now turns up on burgers all over the city. If you try only one, I’d make it this one, at the address that has served it the longest.

The main branch sits on a lane off Minquan East Road, near Zhongshan Junior High School MRT. I could not confirm its current number of branches or the 2026 price of the peanut butter burger. Local guides Bella.tw (March 2024) and wanteatfood (October 2026) both list it.

  • Address: No. 7, Lane 140, Section 3, Minquan East Road, Songshan District, Taipei (臺北市松山區民權東路三段140巷7號)
  • MRT: Zhongshan Junior High School

4. BURNT BURGER SOCIAL CLUB, Xinyi: chef-driven burgers

BURNT BURGER SOCIAL CLUB serves the most chef-driven burger in Taipei. Three childhood friends trained in French cooking, Vic, George and Nick, opened it in March 2024 and named it after the film Burnt. It fills a renovated 50-year-old building off Keelung Road.

The Burnt Classic tells you what kind of cooks they are. It uses dry-aged American beef, swaps pickles for arugula and adds roasted, charred cherry tomatoes. That is a bolder rethink of a cheeseburger than anything else in this guide, which is why it ranks fourth despite being the youngest of the top five. There are no reservations.

5. Butcher by LanPengYou (屠夫漢堡), Xinyi: aged beef and sweet-salty toppings

Butcher by LanPengYou grinds aged beef into 5 oz (about 140 g) patties and isn’t shy with toppings. Its signature is the sea salt caramel and nut burger (海鹽堅果牛奶糖漢堡), finished with smoked mayonnaise. Sweet on beef won’t suit everyone. If you have already done the peanut butter burger at Bravo, though, this is the logical next step. A sister spot, Butcher Jr., is in Zhongshan.

6. Chubby Burger (恰彼漢堡), Xinyi: a smash burger by Taipei City Hall

Chubby Burger is the easiest smash burger to reach in Xinyi, about 150 meters from Taipei City Hall MRT. The PBB Chubby layers two smashed patties, cheddar, bacon, grilled onions and peanut butter. Burgers run NT$200 to NT$300, and the place rates 4.2 stars, according to wanteatfood (October 2026).

7. Everywhere Burger Club, Da’an: from food truck to retro diner

Everywhere Burger Club started as a food truck in 2016 and now serves burgers in a retro American dining room. Pets are welcome. Locals call it ‘Chengling Burger’ because the singer Rainie Yang (楊丞琳) is a regular.

  • Address: No. 21, Lane 420, Guangfu South Road, Da’an District, Taipei (台北市大安區光復南路420巷21號)
  • Phone: +886 2 2704 6825
  • MRT: Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

8. LAY BACK (賴床美式餐廳), Da’an: a peanut butter bacon burger

LAY BACK serves one of the best-value gourmet burgers in Da’an. TVBS 食尚玩家 singled out its peanut butter and bacon burger at NT$220: a wet-aged beef patty, maple bacon and cheddar on a brioche bun, cooked medium. It is a few doors from Burger & Co. on Tong’an Street, so you can compare the two on the same block.

9. Selfish Burger (喀漢堡), Xinyi: the burger near Taipei 101

Selfish Burger is the closest pick to Taipei 101, a short walk from exit 2 of Taipei 101/World Trade Center MRT. Across the street is Four Four South Village (四四南村), a preserved military dependents’ village. Walk it before lunch: it beats eating in a mall food court under the tower. Last orders are at 9:30pm.

10. LOUIS’ BURGERS (路易斯漢堡), Shilin: Tianmu’s neighborhood favorite

LOUIS’ BURGERS is the best-rated budget burger on this list. It sits on Tianmu East Road in Shilin, rates 4.4 stars and charges NT$100 to NT$200, according to wanteatfood (October 2026). It’s not worth the trip across the city. If you are staying in Tianmu, far from the downtown burger cluster, it is the obvious stop.

More Taipei burger spots worth knowing

These burger bars just missed the top 10 but appear in 2026 local guides. Bounce Back 美式漢堡 (No. 9, Lane 40, Section 4, Zhongxiao East Road, Da’an) rates 4.5 stars. Patty Addy Burger (No. 23, Lane 51, Section 1, Da’an Road) is a smash-burger counter rated 3.5 stars. Uncle Laymen in Zhongshan serves a burger on a pineapple bun. Sources: wanteatfood and ETtoday.

Burgers in Taiwan: the breakfast pork burger and the gua bao

Taipei’s burger culture did not start with American-style burger bars. Neighborhood breakfast shops (zaocan dian) sell a pork burger with egg, cucumber and sweet mayonnaise. The gua bao, a steamed bun folded around braised pork, is often called the ‘Taiwanese hamburger’. Raohe and Shilin night markets are the easiest places to try one. For how the burger traveled the world, read our history of the hamburger.

Practical tips for burger hunting in Taipei

Plan around split service. Most top burger bars close between lunch and dinner, and Monday is the day to avoid: Comfort Burger, BURNT and Butcher are all shut. Burger & Co. opens every day. Comfort Burger can sell out before closing time, so go early. Prices are in New Taiwan dollars (TWD, written NT$), and an EasyCard covers the MRT to every address on this list.
