Big Fernand Lille: Address, Menu, Prices, Reviews

The chain's one remaining Lille address is at 107 rue Esquermoise, in Vieux-Lille, and its menu has two Maroilles burgers built for the north.

Big Fernand Lille is now a single restaurant: Big Fernand Vieux Lille, 107 rue Esquermoise, 59800 Lille, about 400 m from Rihour metro station. It is the only Lille branch on the chain’s official restaurant locator. The original branch on place de Béthune is listed as closed. A signature burger costs €15. Set menus run from €9.90 (a smash burger) to €25, and the restaurant holds 4.6/5 on Google from about 3,770 to 3,940 reviews. I checked every fact below on 4 November 2026 and name the source for each one. One directory lists the restaurant as closed, so read the next section before you go.

Is there still a Big Fernand in Lille?

Yes. Lille has one Big Fernand, and it is in Vieux-Lille on rue Esquermoise. The official locator at restaurants.bigfernand.com has a single Lille page, “Big Fernand Vieux Lille”, which lists dine-in, takeaway and delivery. The chain posted a Lille menu in July 2025 and a Lille allergen sheet in September 2025.

One warning. PagesJaunes currently shows “probably permanently closed” on its listing for 107 rue Esquermoise. That contradicts the chain’s own site and recent reviews on aggregators, but I could not get a dated confirmation either way. Call +33 3 20 94 77 76 or check Google Maps on the day you plan to go.

Big Fernand place de Béthune: closed

The first Big Fernand in Lille, on place de Béthune, is closed. Tripadvisor marks it “Closed” and Wanderlog marks it “Permanently closed” (Big Fernand Lille Centre, 1/3 place de Béthune). It is gone from the official site. When and why it closed, I could not find out.

Plenty of directories still mix up the two addresses: Sluurpy and Restoranking still show Béthune as open. The old branch’s ratings (4.5/5 on Google from 4,453 reviews, 4.0/5 on Tripadvisor from 575 reviews) belong to that closed address, not to rue Esquermoise. If you see those numbers quoted for Vieux-Lille, they are wrong.

Big Fernand Lille address and how to get there

Big Fernand Vieux Lille is at 107 rue Esquermoise, 59800 Lille, in the old town just north of the Grand’Place. PagesJaunes, 118000 and Restaurant Guru all give the same address. Wanderlog uses the postcode 59000, but rue Esquermoise is 59800.

Big Fernand Lille opening hours

No official source gives the opening hours of Big Fernand Lille: the chain’s page leaves them out, and the directories disagree. The most detailed version, from Wanderlog and Restaurant Guru, is below. Treat it as a guide, not a guarantee.

Day Hours (Wanderlog, Restaurant Guru)
Monday to Wednesday 11:30–14:30 and 18:30–22:30
Thursday 11:30–14:30 and 18:30–23:00
Friday and Saturday 11:30–23:00
Sunday 11:30–22:30

PagesJaunes gives 12:00–22:30 every day instead, and some listings show an 11:45 opening. The gap matters most mid-afternoon on a weekday, when one source has the kitchen closed and another has it open. Phone first.

Big Fernand Lille menu and prices

The menu at Big Fernand Lille centers on €15 “hamburgés” made with French beef, French cheeses and house sauces, plus €7–11 smash burgers and three set menus from €18 to €25. These prices come from the official Vieux-Lille menu PDF posted in July 2025. The chain has been under a court-approved safeguard plan since September 2026, so check them at the counter.

Set menus (formules)

Every set menu includes a burger, Fernandines (homemade fries) or a Falade (salad), and a soft drink.

Set menu Price What you get
Classique €18 Burger, Fernandines or Falade, soft drink
Festin €21 Same, with a double patty
Grosse Ripaille €25 Double patty, double cheese, unlimited Fernandines or Falade

Swapping in Gargandines costs €2.50 extra. Set menus with a vegetarian burger are €1 cheaper, and an alcoholic drink costs extra. The PDF doesn’t price drinks, desserts or sides on their own. It just tells you to discover them “en atelier”, in the restaurant.

The signature burgers at €15

Big Fernand markets its burgers as “100% French”, and the cheese list backs that up. On the Lille menu, every beef and chicken burger costs €15:

Reviewers on Wanderlog and Restaurant Guru single out Le Victor and its onion confit. Off the standard menu, it is my pick too. Blue cheese against sweet onion is the one pairing on this list you can’t get at any burger counter in town.

Smash burgers from €7

The smash burgers are the cheapest way to eat at Big Fernand. All three come with raw-milk raclette and Tata Fernande sauce:

Smash burger On its own As a set menu
Smash Fernand €7 €9.90
Smash Poitrine (pork belly) €9 €11.90
Double Smash €11 €13.90

Big Fernand Lille menu prices compared: smash burgers at €7–11, vegetarian burgers at €14, signature burgers at €15 and set menus at €18, €21 and €25 (official Vieux-Lille menu, July 2025). The Maroilles burgers: what makes Big Fernand Lille different

Big Fernand Lille serves burgers made with Maroilles, the pungent washed-rind cheese of northern France, and I haven’t seen them on the chain’s menus in other cities. The idea is not new: in 2018, La Gazette France already mentioned a Lille-only Maroilles burger. The July 2025 menu PDF has two, in two different versions of the menu:

  • Le Brigitte, €15: French breed beef, Maroilles PDO, smoked pork belly, crushed speculoos biscuits, chives, Tonton Fernand sauce. It is featured at the top of the menu image.
  • Le Barnabé, €15: French breed beef, Maroilles PDO, braised chicory (chicons, as they say in the north), chives, Tata Fernande sauce. Sluurpy lists it among customer favorites.

Maroilles, speculoos and chicons all come straight from the Nord and Flemish table, which makes these the most local burgers on the menu. If you only eat at Big Fernand once in Lille, order one of these, not Le Big Fernand you can get in Paris. My bet is Le Brigitte: the sweet, spiced speculoos is there to cut the Maroilles, and northern cooks have long paired the two. The PDF doesn’t say whether both are still served or whether Le Brigitte replaced Le Barnabé, so ask at the counter. For the other burger addresses in town, see our guide to the best burgers in Lille.

Toulouse gets its own regional burger too, Le Blaise. You can compare the two in my Big Fernand Toulouse guide to the menu, prices and reviews.

Vegetarian burgers and kids’ menu

Big Fernand Lille has two vegetarian burgers at €14, marked with a symbol on the menu:

  • Le Gabin: homemade potato rösti, double raw-milk Tomme des Alpes, fried onions, Pépère pepper sauce.
  • Le Lucien: a large Portobello mushroom, Tomme des Alpes, slow-roasted tomatoes, onion confit.

The Marmot kids’ menu costs €9.90 for children up to 10: a smashed beef patty with Tomme des Alpes or three crispy chicken tenders, plus Fernandines and a house drink or water. For allergies, the chain publishes a separate Lille allergen sheet, dated September 2025, on its website.

Big Fernand Lille reviews

Big Fernand Vieux Lille is rated 4.6/5 on Google from about 3,770 to 3,940 reviews, and 3.9 to 4.0/5 on Tripadvisor from 65 to 77 reviews. The counts depend on when each aggregator collected them, hence the ranges. I have not merged these ratings into a single score.

Platform Rating Reviews Source
Google 4.6/5 3,768–3,943 Wanderlog, Restaurant Guru
Tripadvisor 3.9–4.0/5 65–77 Wanderlog, Tripadvisor

Big Fernand Vieux Lille reviews by platform: 4.6/5 on Google (3,768–3,943 reviews), 4.4/5 on Facebook and 3.9–4.0/5 on Tripadvisor (65–77 reviews). Foursquare (6.6/10) is not shown. Figures collected on 4 November 2026. (Chart: Burger Breton, original work, CC BY 4.0; data: Wanderlog, Restaurant Guru, Tripadvisor (4 November 2026))

Restaurant Guru ranks it 36th of 1,047 fast-food restaurants in Lille. Tripadvisor blocked my direct check of its page (a 403 error), so that figure comes from the search snippet.

What diners praise

Reviewers like the inventive burgers, Le Victor above all, and the smash burgers. Several mention staff who switch languages easily, handy if you’ve come over from London on the Eurostar. Others note a bright, spacious dining room that works for families. In 2018 La Gazette France described it as 100 m² with brick and stone walls and up to 45 seats.

What diners criticize

The complaints are about consistency and price. Some reviewers mention a soggy bun or bland fries; others find it expensive. At €18 for a Classique set, I agree with them. The smash set at €9.90 is the value pick, and it still comes with raclette.

Big Fernand in Lille: a short history

Big Fernand was founded in Paris in 2011 by Steve Burggraf, Alexandre Auriac and Guillaume Pagliano. It came to Lille as a franchise in May 2014, after Lyon in October 2013 (Wikipedia). By the time the second Lille branch opened on rue Esquermoise in August 2018, the first one, on place de Béthune, was serving about 300 customers a day, according to La Gazette France. Only the Vieux-Lille branch remains.

The chain itself is going through a hard patch. On 22 September 2026, a court approved a safeguard plan for Big Fernand. At that point the company had 45 restaurants (17 company-owned, 28 franchised); its 2025 sales came to €52 million, and its shareholder is Bluegem (Paperjam). The full story is on our Big Fernand brand profile.

Delivery and takeaway

Big Fernand Lille offers delivery and takeaway, according to the chain’s official page. That page doesn’t link to any delivery app or online ordering, so I can’t tell you which platforms carry it. Search for “Big Fernand Vieux Lille” in your usual app, or call to order takeaway.

Restaurant Guru also lists card payment and wheelchair access, but the chain hasn’t confirmed either. I found nothing reliable on parking or on meal vouchers (titres-restaurant). Don’t bother driving into Vieux-Lille anyway: walk up from Rihour.

How I checked this guide

I checked every fact on 4 November 2026. Menu items and prices come from the official Vieux-Lille menu (July 2025). The address, phone number and transit details come from PagesJaunes, 118000 and Restaurant Guru. Ratings come from Wanderlog, Restaurant Guru and Tripadvisor. This guide gives no rating of its own, because it is built from these sources, not from a scored visit. For the same breakdown in another city, see my Big Fernand Bordeaux address, hours and menu guide, or browse all our restaurant guides.
