Big Fernand Toulouse is the French gourmet burger chain’s only confirmed restaurant in the city: 11 allées du Président Franklin Roosevelt, 31000 Toulouse, on Place Wilson, five minutes on foot from Jean-Jaurès metro. You can eat in, take away or order delivery. The last official Toulouse menu put a burger at €13 to €13.50 on its own and €19 to €19.50 as a full meal deal. Google rates it 4.0/5, Tripadvisor 3.5/5. I checked every detail below on 9 October 2026 and dated anything that might change. One thing up front: this guide is built from the official menu, the listings and diner reviews. It is not a tasting.

Big Fernand Toulouse at a glance

Big Fernand Toulouse address and how to get there

Big Fernand Toulouse is at 11 allées du Président Franklin Roosevelt, a short walk from Jean-Jaurès, the metro station where Toulouse’s lines A and B meet.

The allées Franklin-Roosevelt link Place Wilson to the allées Jean-Jaurès, the wide avenue through the city centre. The metro is about 400 m away. If you don’t know Toulouse, use the landmarks on the official page: Place Wilson, the allées Jean-Jaurès, the Victor-Hugo covered market, the Capitole and the Gaumont cinema.

So it’s an easy stop between sights. English-speaking reviewers on Wanderlog mention both the metro access and staff who speak English.

Big Fernand Toulouse opening hours

I am not publishing day-by-day opening hours for Big Fernand Toulouse: the sources disagree, and the official page lists none.

Pages Jaunes and Sluurpy give different opening and closing times, and the version of the official page I read showed no hours at all. Going on a Sunday or late in the evening? Check the restaurant’s Google listing or call +33 5 34 30 15 62 first. I will add an hours table once a primary source confirms one.

Big Fernand Toulouse menu and prices

On the last official Toulouse menu, a burger costs €13 to €13.50 on its own, €16 to €16.50 with a side and a drink, and €19 to €19.50 with dessert as well.

The only official menu I could find for this restaurant is the “Toulouse et Labège” PDF. It was uploaded in September 2022 and is still linked from the official page. These are 2022 prices, so expect to pay more today. Some burgers below may have gone, the limited editions above all.

Big Fernand Toulouse menu prices by burger: €13–€13.50 on its own, €16–€16.50 as a Little meal deal, €19–€19.50 as a Big meal deal (official Toulouse et Labège menu, 2022; 2026 prices likely higher) (Chart: Burger Breton, own work from the official Big Fernand 2022 menu, CC BY 4.0)

What the meal deals include

The Big meal deal (“Big Formule”) gets you a burger, a side, a soft drink and a dessert. The Little meal deal drops the dessert.

For the side, you pick Fernandines, the homemade fries, or the Falade, the house salad. Swapping the soft drink for a craft beer costs €2 more. The 2022 menu also lists:

  • Kids’ menu: €10 for a beef or chicken burger, Fernandines and a drink
  • “L’Effet Big”: double meat and double cheese for €4 extra
  • Smoked bacon: €1 extra
  • Big Toasté: €6 on its own or €10 as a meal deal, with a vegetarian version
  • Desserts: €3 to €4
  • Lemonade or iced tea (33 cl): €3
  • Local craft beers (33 cl): €5, from Brasserie la Seillonne, l’Oustal, l’Excuse and la Boussole
  • AOP Cahors red wine: €5 a glass, €20 a bottle

Where the meat comes from

According to the official menu, the beef comes from French-bred cattle, the veal is French and the chicken is Label Rouge free-range.

Label Rouge is France’s official quality label for farm-raised poultry. All three origins are listed in the same 2022 PDF.

Limited editions: the truffle burger example

Big Fernand rotates limited-edition burgers across all its restaurants, and Toulouse gets them too.

In December 2022, every Big Fernand in France, Toulouse included, served Le Tartuffe: Charolais or Limousin beef, Beillevaire raw-milk Mont d’Or cheese, rocket and truffle sauce, for €14.20 on its own or €20.20 as a meal deal (Le Bonbon Toulouse, 2 December 2022). Ask at the counter which edition is on now.

Which Big Fernand burger to order

For a first visit, I’d order Le Blaise, the most southwestern burger on the menu. For the house style, get the namesake Big Fernand.

This is my reading of the menu, not a tasting score. Le Blaise is the one build that only makes sense here: Bethmale, a cow’s-milk cheese from the Ariège Pyrenees, with dried duck breast and fig jam. Salty, sweet, local. The Big Fernand is the chain’s signature, with raw-milk tomme, sun-dried tomatoes and the house Tata Fernande sauce. Want something richer? The Bartholomé, with raclette and bacon. Prefer veal and blue cheese to beef? The Victor. Le Blaise and the Victor both come from the 2022 menu, so ask whether they are still served before you settle on either.

Vegetarian options at Big Fernand Toulouse

Yes, Big Fernand Toulouse has a vegetarian burger: the Lucien, built on a Portobello mushroom with tomme, sun-dried tomatoes and caramelised onions.

On the 2022 menu, the Lucien cost the same as the beef burgers: €13 on its own, €16 or €19 as a meal deal. The Big Toasté also came in a vegetarian version.

Big Fernand Toulouse reviews: what diners say

Diners rate Big Fernand Toulouse 4.0/5 on Google and 3.5/5 on Tripadvisor. They like the fresh ingredients and the central location. They complain about portion size for the price and about fries that sometimes arrive cold.

Platform Rating Number of reviews Where the figure comes from
Google 4.0/5 1,607 Relayed by Sluurpy, 9 Oct 2026
Tripadvisor 3.5/5 about 270 (Sluurpy shows 259) Search snippet, 9 Oct 2026; #644 of 1,653 Toulouse restaurants
Sluurpy (all platforms) 3.9/5 2,966 Sluurpy, 9 Oct 2026

Tripadvisor blocks direct access, so its figures come from search results and an aggregator, not from the page itself. Read them as close approximations. Pages Jaunes shows 5/5, but from only three reviews, so I left it out.

Big Fernand Toulouse reviews compared: 4.0/5 on Google (1,607 reviews), 3.5/5 on Tripadvisor (about 270) and 3.9/5 on Sluurpy across all platforms (2,966), as of 9 October 2026 (Chart: Burger Breton, own work from Sluurpy and Tripadvisor figures, CC BY 4.0)

What reviewers like

  • Fresh ingredients and well-flavoured burgers
  • Homemade fries
  • Friendly staff, including English speakers
  • The central location close to the metro

What reviewers complain about

  • Fries that arrive cold or dry
  • Small portions for the price. One reviewer wrote that they paid €18 for a burger and fries and were still hungry.
  • Orders that are wrong or missing items
  • Some diners simply found the taste disappointing

Verdict: is Big Fernand Toulouse worth it?

Big Fernand Toulouse is worth a stop if you want a French-style gourmet burger in the city centre, close to the metro, but expect chain prices and fries that don’t always arrive hot.

How I reached this verdict: I have not eaten here for this piece, so there is no personal score. The verdict rests on the official menu, dated prices, ratings from three platforms and the praise and complaints that keep coming back in reviews. A 4.0 average across more than 1,600 Google reviews points to a steady reputation, not a cult one. Tripadvisor’s 3.5 tracks the complaints about value, and I think those complaints are fair: €19 or more for a burger, fries, drink and dessert, at 2022 prices, is a lot for a burger lunch. What earns Big Fernand its place is the sourcing. Raw-milk tomme, Bethmale, Label Rouge chicken, a Cahors red and four local craft beers: that menu was written for southwest France, not copied from a global playbook.

The chain behind it: Big Fernand’s history and its 2026 restructuring

Big Fernand is a gourmet burger chain founded in Paris in 2011. After a court-supervised restructuring in 2026, it runs 45 restaurants and is still trading.

Steve Burggraf, Alexandre Auriac and Guillaume Pagliano founded Big Fernand in 2011, and the first restaurant opened in Paris’s 9th arrondissement in January 2012 (Wikipedia). In June 2017, the London fund Bluegem Capital Partners bought 80% of Big Groupe, which then had 35 restaurants (Franchise Magazine).

On 16 February 2026, the Paris economic activities court opened safeguard proceedings (“procédure de sauvegarde”) for Big Groupe (Entrevue). Under this French procedure, a company keeps trading under court protection while it renegotiates its debts. The court approved the plan on 22 September 2026. Bluegem is putting in €2.4 million, and 85% of a €19 million debt is being written off. The network has 45 restaurants (17 company-owned, 28 franchised), made €52 million in network sales in 2025 and employs 289 people directly (Paperjam, 9 October 2026).

No source I found says whether the Toulouse restaurant is company-owned or franchised, or ties it to any closure plan. As of 9 October 2026, it is open.
