The best burger in Naples, Italy, is at Puok Burger Store. In January 2026 the Bargiornale Barawards named it Miglior Paninoteca dell’Anno (Sandwich Shop of the Year), and it serves burgers from shops in Spaccanapoli and the Vomero. After Puok, my order would be 12 Morsi in Chiaia, then Tortora’s butcher-shop burgers on the Vomero, then Smashtag’s smash burgers on Piazza San Pasquale. All ten picks are below, with addresses, signature burgers and every price I could date.

This is a guide to Naples in Campania, not Naples, Florida. It joins our burger city guides in the Restaurants section. For background on the neighbourhoods, see our Naples burger area guide.

The 10 best burger restaurants in Naples at a glance: neighbourhood, signature burger and last dated price in euros, from Puok in Spaccanapoli to Da Gigione in Pomigliano d’Arco (Table: Burger Breton, data from Napolike, Scatti di Gusto, Intravel, Grande Napoli and Eroica Fenice)

How I ranked these Naples burger restaurants

I built this October 2026 ranking from Neapolitan food press, official restaurant websites and verified awards. I didn’t eat at these ten places for this guide. Every fact below comes from the source linked in its entry, and nothing from a menu I haven’t seen.

My main sources were Napolike’s guide to the city’s hamburgerie (updated 15 August 2026), Scatti di Gusto’s reviews and opening reports, and award coverage from Foodmakers, Il Mattino and Bargiornale. Two things pushed a place up my list: a verified award, and burgers built on Campania’s own produce, such as provola, friarielli and provolone del Monaco. A burger that could be served in Milan or Manchester ranks lower here.

Some data is missing, and I’d rather say so. Tripadvisor, TheFork and agrodolce.it blocked my research tools, so this guide quotes no Google ratings or review counts. Many signature-burger prices come from articles written between 2016 and 2022. I give them with their year as a guide, not as today’s menu price.

Burger prices in Naples by year (bar chart, EUR): Tortora 3XL €10 pork, €12 veal, €15 Chianina (2016); 12 Morsi Marchigiana burger €11 (2017); ROS lab about €18 per person and Smesh Burger €10–20 per person (aggregator) (Chart: Burger Breton, data from Scatti di Gusto (2016, 2017) and Intravel)

Only three picks have a recent dated source: Puok (award, January 2026), Smashtag (opened November 2025) and Five Guys (opened September 2025). For the other seven, check the restaurant’s Google listing or Instagram for current hours before you go.

One warning. Some English-language results for this search are AI-generated spam listing places that do not exist, such as ‘Da Michele Burger’ and ‘Il Trullo Burger’. Every venue below has been checked against Italian sources.

1. Puok Burger Store, Spaccanapoli and Vomero

Puok Burger Store is the best burger restaurant in Naples by verified recognition. It won Miglior Paninoteca dell’Anno 2026 at the Bargiornale Barawards, presented on 12 January 2026 at Alcatraz in Milan (Foodmakers, Il Mattino).

Egidio Cerrone founded Puok. Neapolitans know him as ‘Puok e Med’ or ‘Capitano Puok’, a food blogger with a degree in medical biotechnology. He opened the first shop on Via Cilea in the Vomero in June 2016: takeaway only, six panini, no customising. The line-up was Evergreen, Django, Los Pollos, Mammà, Zappatour and Pulled Puok, plus a panino of the month (Scatti di Gusto, Puok history page).

Order the Django first. According to Napolike, it comes with bacon, fried onion, smoked provola and barbecue sauce. Puok’s own history page names the Genovese Astrospaziale as the flagship of its 2024 ‘space era’, a nod to genovese, Naples’ slow-cooked onion and meat sauce. That’s why Puok tops my list ahead of the trophy: it is the one place that cooks a burger only Naples would make.

  • Addresses: Piazzetta Nilo 9, Spaccanapoli (opened November 2018, per Scatti di Gusto); Via Cilea 104, Vomero; Oink Lab, Via Appia Sud km 17/900, Sant’Antimo (outside the city)
  • Signature: Django (bacon, fried onion, provola, barbecue sauce)
  • Official links: puokburger.com and Instagram @puokburger

2. 12 Morsi, Chiaia

12 Morsi is Chiaia’s chef-backed burger bar, close to Piazza dei Martiri. It sits in a former car-parts shop (Intravel), and Napolike now lists it as ‘12 Morsi Burger & Friends’.

The fine-dining pedigree is real. In 2016 it served three burgers created by Francesco Sposito, a chef with two Michelin stars (Scatti di Gusto). A year later, €11 bought a Marchigiana IGP beef burger with Westcombe cheddar (a Slow Food Presidium cheese), black-pig bacon and Neapolitan friariello (Scatti di Gusto). English cheddar next to Campanian greens: that pairing is why it ranks second.

  • Address: Via Alabardieri 34/35/36, 80121 Napoli (Chiaia)
  • Signature: Marchigiana beef with Westcombe cheddar and friariello (€11 in 2017)
  • Official link: the 12morsi.it security certificate had expired when I checked; check its Google listing for current hours

3. Tortora, Vomero: the late-night butcher’s burger

Tortora is a butcher by day and a burger counter by night on Viale Michelangelo in the Vomero. The queues after dark are what made its name. A 2016 report said it served burgers until 6am (Napolike).

Mario Tortora’s best-known order is the Tortora 3XL, a stack of three patties. In 2016 it cost €10 in pork, €12 in veal and €15 in Chianina, the Tuscan beef breed (Scatti di Gusto). Older articles also list branches on Via Carducci, Via Toledo and Via Pirandello. I could not confirm that any of them still trade.

  • Address: Viale Michelangelo 42, Vomero
  • Signature: Tortora 3XL, three patties (€10–15 in 2016, depending on the meat)
  • Official link: no official website found; check its Google listing

4. Cerrone Burger Store, Posillipo

Cerrone Burger Store is a family grill run by three Cerrone brothers, and you can watch your burger cook (Napolike).

The Hamburger Cerrone is a 130 g patty with onions, bacon, lettuce and barbecue sauce. It is the plainest build on this list, with no Campanian cheese and no twist. Come here for a straight bacon burger, not for local flavour.

  • Addresses: Via Santo Strato 12/b and Via Manzoni 308, Posillipo; another branch in Aversa (outside the city)
  • Signature: Hamburger Cerrone, 130 g
  • Official link: no official website found

5. The Penny Black, Vomero and Lungomare

The Penny Black is an English-style pub that puts Campanian cheese and greens on Italian beef. It serves Chianina and ‘fiorentina’ burgers with English pancetta, provolone del Monaco, friarielli and provola, and pours ten rotating draught beers (Scatti di Gusto).

Want a burger and a pint? Go here. Provolone del Monaco is a sharp aged cheese from the Sorrento peninsula, and no other pick on this list puts it on a bun.

6. Smashtag, Chiaia: smash burger in Naples, Italy

Smashtag is the newest serious smash burger in Naples, Italy. The Italian chain was founded in 2020 and opened its first Naples shop on Piazza San Pasquale in Chiaia on 29 November 2025. Co-founder Riccardo Di Salvo was born in Naples and grew up in Chiaia (Eroica Fenice).

Its most-ordered burger is the Smash Brown: American cheese, crispy bacon, a secret glaze and ‘samstag’, the house smoked sauce (smashtag.it). To compare styles, see how Junk in Paris and Beyondburg in Bangalore make their smash burgers.

7. Smesh Burger, Piazza Dante

Smesh Burger is the smash-burger stop in the centro storico, on Piazza Dante at the top of Via Toledo. According to Intravel, a typical bill runs €10 to €20 per person. That is the only source I found, so treat it as a starting point.

The location is the draw: it sits between the old town and the shopping streets of Via Toledo. For a home version of a griddled cheeseburger, try our Jack in the Box Ultimate Cheeseburger recipe.

  • Address: Piazza Dante 89, 80135 Napoli (centro storico)
  • Signature: smash burgers

8. ROS lab, Vomero

ROS lab is an American-style kitchen in the Vomero serving burgers and fried chicken. An aggregated listing puts the average bill at about €18 per person (Intravel), a figure I could not cross-check. It sits on the same street as Tortora, so it’s the fallback when Tortora’s queue is too long.

  • Address: Viale Michelangelo 83/C, 80129 (Vomero)
  • Signature: burgers and fried chicken
  • Official link: no official website found

9. Five Guys Napoli, Piazza Garibaldi

Yes, there is a Five Guys in Naples. It opened on Monday 15 September 2025 in the shopping arcade of Napoli Centrale station, on Piazza Garibaldi, and was the chain’s first restaurant in southern Italy (Grande Napoli).

I list it for convenience, not local character. The 355 m² space seats 60 inside and 44 on the terrace, and it opens daily from 11am to 10pm. Waiting for a train? It beats a station sandwich.

  • Address: Napoli Centrale station shopping arcade, Piazza Garibaldi
  • Hours: 11am to 10pm daily

10. Da Gigione, Pomigliano d’Arco (outside Naples)

Da Gigione is the award-winning butcher’s burger of the province, in Pomigliano d’Arco rather than the city itself. The Gambero Rosso Street Food 2017 guide named it the best street-food spot in Campania (Scatti di Gusto).

The Cariulo family has been in the butchery trade for five generations. The grill and the butcher shop are at separate addresses.

  • Addresses: grill at Via Roma 307, butcher shop at Via Trieste 71, Pomigliano d’Arco
  • Official link: no official website found

Also outside the city: Blackburger, Frattamaggiore

Blackburger is the pick for barbecue fans willing to travel into the province. Giuseppe Auriemma and Ilaria Capuozzo founded it, and they cook with Marchigiana beef, wild boar, buffalo and Casertano black pork (Scatti di Gusto). It is at Via Vittorio Emanuele III 167, Frattamaggiore.

Campanian ingredients in a Naples burger

The most Neapolitan burgers use the Campanian larder: smoked provola, friarielli, provolone del Monaco and mozzarella di bufala. Puok’s Django uses provola, 12 Morsi has topped Marchigiana beef with friariello, and The Penny Black uses provolone del Monaco and friarielli. Friarielli are the bitter broccoli rabe Neapolitans eat with sausage, and on a burger they do the same job of cutting through the fat.

Best burger neighbourhoods in Naples: Vomero, Chiaia or centro storico

The Vomero has the most burger restaurants, Chiaia the newest, and the centro storico the award winner. Tortora, The Penny Black, ROS lab and Puok’s first shop are all in the Vomero. Chiaia has 12 Morsi and Smashtag. Puok’s Piazzetta Nilo shop and Smesh Burger are in the old town.

To get between them, take metro Line 1 or a funicular. Line 1 links the Vomero with Via Toledo, and three funiculars climb the hill from Chiaia, Toledo and Montesanto.
