Best Burgers in Porto: 10 Burger Restaurants Ranked for 2026
Where to eat the best burgers in Porto in 2026: Curb, Brusco, OPO and 7 more, with full addresses, dated euro prices and a transparent ranking method.

The best burger in Porto in 2026 is at Curb (Rua da Torrinha 111, Cedofeita), a takeaway counter that bakes its milk buns every day and holds a Guia Repsol Solete. Brusco, at Time Out Market Porto and in Foz, and OPO Smash Burgers on Largo da Ramadinha complete my top three of the 10 best burger restaurants in Porto. Want a smash burger? Go to Brusco, OPO or Crave. Want Portuguese ingredients like picanha, queijo da Ilha and alheira? Go to Bira dos Namorados, which builds its whole menu around them.

How I ranked Porto’s burger restaurants
I ranked these places by how strongly recent, independent sources agree on them, and I only kept venues that a 2025–2026 source lists. I built the list on 2026-10-08 from the Time Out Porto burger guide (updated 2026-02-27), the Guia Repsol Soletes announced on 2025-11-24, NiT’s January 2026 report on OPO, Porto Secreto’s 2024 guide for older prices, and each restaurant’s official site where one exists. I have not yet logged a dated visit to each counter, so this ranking reflects the sources, not my own tasting notes. I will add visit notes, with the date, as I eat my way through the list.
Every price carries the month it was recorded. Where I could not find a dated 2026 price, the table says so rather than guessing. I publish no Google or Tripadvisor scores: I could not record them on a dated visit to each Google Business Profile, and quoting search-snippet numbers would not be honest.
The 10 best burger restaurants in Porto
1. Curb: the best burger in Porto
Curb tops my list because two independent judges back it. Guia Repsol named it one of Porto’s ‘Fast Good’ Soletes on 2025-11-24, alongside Casa Guedes, Cervejaria Gazela and Torto (Observador), and Time Out still lists it in February 2026.
The burger has no gimmicks: Angus beef, a milk bun baked on site every day, cheddar, pickles and a secret sauce (Time Out Porto). That restraint is the point. A bun baked that morning needs no truffle or croissant to stand out. Time Out puts Curb in its lowest price band. The Double Curb cost €14 in June 2024 (Porto Secreto); I could not confirm the 2026 price.
Plan to eat standing or walking. Curb sells over the counter and delivers through Glovo, and current listings show no dining room. If you want to bake a soft enriched bun like Curb’s, start with our homemade burger buns recipe.
- Address: Rua da Torrinha 111, 4050-611 Porto (Cedofeita / Baixa)
- Style: cheeseburger on a house-baked milk bun, takeaway and delivery

2. Brusco: the best smash burger near São Bento
Brusco is the most convenient smash burger in Porto: its main counter sits inside Time Out Market Porto at São Bento station and opens every day. It belongs to the Avesso restaurant group, also behind Fava Tonka. The slogan promises ‘burgers that really want to be burgers’.
Time Out describes two patties of beef aged for 60 days, with cheese, onion, pickles, ketchup and mustard. Only Time Out Portugal mentions the 60-day ageing, so treat it as their claim. The menu on brusco.pt is a single image, and I could not record its prices.

The market opened on 3 May 2024 in the south wing of São Bento station. It runs from 10:30am to midnight daily and takes no reservations. Brusco’s second address is in Foz, on Rua do Passeio Alegre, the promenade near the mouth of the Douro. For the smash technique at home, try our ShackBurger copycat recipe.

3. OPO Smash Burgers: the best-value smash burger in Porto
OPO Smash Burgers serves the cheapest dated smash burger in this guide: The OG at €9.99 in January 2026 (NiT). Kevin Carvalho, a 28-year-old Swedish-Portuguese founder according to NiT, opened it on 2 August 2025.
Each 130 g (4.6 oz) patty is ground daily with one-third picanha, the prized Brazilian-style rump cap. Buns are sourdough brioche. The Smoky is the best-seller at €11.99, a burger of the week costs the same (one was the banh mi-inspired ‘Smash Mi’), and Funky Fries cost €12.99.

Don’t skip dessert. OPO sells Swedish chocolate balls for €1, made from the founder’s childhood recipe. Note the hours: closed Monday, Tuesday to Friday 12–3pm and 6–10pm, weekends 12:30–10:30pm.

4. Crave Burgers: smash burgers in Clérigos and Foz
Crave Burgers is the smash burger to pick if you want truffle: Time Out names the Smash Truffle as its signature, with beef, American cheddar, truffle sauce and crispy onion. Crave also serves burgers on croissants, a twist you won’t find elsewhere on this list.
It has two Porto branches, one by the Clérigos tower and one in Foz, plus a third in Braga. That makes it the most practical pick for visitors who split their stay between the centre and the beach.

5. Bira dos Namorados: the most Portuguese burgers in Porto
Bira dos Namorados makes the most Portuguese burgers in Porto, built on picanha, island cheese and alheira sausage. Founders Mariana Marques and Diogo Carvalho started the concept in Braga. Every burger and prego (Portugal’s steak sandwich) is named after a traditional Portuguese dance.
Three to know. The Viras do Minho is 100% picanha with truffle-aged sheep’s cheese, bacon and caramelised onion on brioche. The Bailinho pairs beef with queijo da Ilha from the Azores, caramelised banana, bacon and garlic mayo. The Machadinha swaps beef for alheira, a garlicky smoked sausage, with fried onion, courgette, a fried egg and barbecue sauce.

I could not find current prices. Two sources disagree on the postcode (4050-091 and 4050-191), so navigate by street name.

6. Musa das Virtudes: craft beer and a brisket onion burger
Musa das Virtudes is the best burger-and-beer stop in Porto: it is the bar of the Cerveja Musa craft brewery. Its Onion Burger uses 100% beef brisket with cheddar, the house ‘McVirtudes’ sauce and pickles. There is a vegan option too, which makes it the safest pick on this list for a mixed group.

7. Honorato Clérigos: the loaded classic
Honorato is the place for a loaded, old-school gourmet burger in central Porto. The Lisbon chain arrived in Porto in August 2016. Its house burger, the Honorato, stacks beef, lettuce, tomato, corn, bacon, egg, cheddar and garlic mayonnaise.
The late-night hours I found look outdated, so check Google Maps for opening times before you go.
- Address: Rua de Cândido dos Reis 12, 4050-151 Porto (Clérigos)
- Style: gourmet burger chain
8. Letraria – Craft Beer Garden: a burger in a beer garden
Letraria is the best place in Porto to eat a burger outdoors with a serious beer list: over 50 beers, 20 on tap, and a garden at the back. Order the Hambúrguer à Letra, a veal burger with caramelised onion, bacon, edam, lettuce and tomato.
- Address: Rua da Alegria 101, Porto (Baixa / Santa Catarina)
- Style: veal burger with craft beer

9. Holy Sandwich Shop: 11 burgers and cocktails downtown
Holy Sandwich Shop offers the widest choice on this list, with 11 burgers on the menu and cocktails to match. Time Out’s pick is the Original: 180 g (6.3 oz) of beef, cheddar, caramelised onion, mayonnaise and crispy bacon on brioche.
Its only 2026 mention I could find is Time Out’s February list. Check that it is open before you cross town for it.
- Address: Rua do Comércio do Porto 130, Porto (Baixa)
- Style: brioche burgers and cocktails
10. Nogueira’s Porto: the steakhouse cheeseburger
Nogueira’s Porto is a steakhouse, and the one to choose if you want beef-first cooking. Time Out lists its Black Angus cheeseburger with guanciale, Italian cured pork cheek, in its 2026 guide. My sources give no street address or price, so look up its current listing before you go.
Older favourites to check before you go
These three places have strong track records, but no source from 2025 or 2026 confirms they are still open, so I left them out of the ranking.
- Real Hamburgueria Portuguesa (Rua da Torrinha 134, Cedofeita). Opened in 2013 with burgers built on regional Portuguese ingredients, such as the Pauliteiro, a tribute to Miranda do Douro. It also sells Portuguese groceries. It ranked 36th in Big 7 Travel’s 50 Best Burgers in Europe in 2021, its third year in a row, serving 180 g patties medium-rare (Time Out Porto).
- Peebz (Rua Senhora da Luz 448, 4150-695 Porto, Foz do Douro). A beach-side burger bar using a slightly sweet bun made to order by the Cristal bakery (Time Out).
- Santo Burga (Rua de Egas Moniz 500, plus a branch in Leça da Palmeira). Its Two Saints burger cost €9.50 in 2024 (Porto Secreto).
Where to eat burgers in Porto by neighbourhood
Downtown visitors have the most choice. Beach stays have two options from the ranking, Brusco Foz and Crave Foz.
- Baixa and Cedofeita: Curb, Brusco (Time Out Market), Holy Sandwich Shop, Letraria, OPO
- Clérigos and Galerias: Crave Clérigos, Honorato, Bira dos Namorados
- Virtudes: Musa das Virtudes, a short walk from Clérigos
- Foz do Douro: Brusco Foz, Crave Foz, plus Peebz if it is still open

FAQ: best burgers in Porto
Where can I eat the best burger in Porto?
Curb, at Rua da Torrinha 111 in Cedofeita, is my pick for the best burger in Porto. It holds a Guia Repsol Solete (November 2025) and makes an Angus cheeseburger on a milk bun baked daily. Current listings show no dining room, so Brusco and OPO are the best sit-down alternatives.
What is the best smash burger in Porto?
Brusco and OPO Smash Burgers are the two best smash burgers in Porto. Brusco smashes two patties of aged beef at Time Out Market Porto and in Foz. OPO blends one-third picanha into a 130 g patty and charges €9.99 for The OG (January 2026). Crave’s Smash Truffle is the pick if you like truffle.
How much does a burger cost in Porto in 2026?
The dated prices I found put a good burger in Porto at €9.99 to €14. OPO charges €9.99 to €11.99 (January 2026), and the Double Curb was €14 in June 2024. Most other places do not publish current prices online.
Dated burger prices in Porto, as a bar chart in euros: OPO The OG €9.99, OPO Smoky €11.99 and burger of the week €11.99 (January 2026), Double Curb €14 (June 2024). No other venue publishes a dated price. (Chart: Burger Breton (original), data from NiT (Jan 2026) and Porto Secreto (June 2024); CC BY 4.0)
Which Porto burger restaurants use Portuguese ingredients?
Bira dos Namorados uses the most Portuguese ingredients: picanha, queijo da Ilha from the Azores and alheira sausage. OPO blends picanha into its patties. Real Hamburgueria Portuguesa built its menu on regional products, but I could not confirm it is open in 2026. None of my sources lists a burger with Serra da Estrela cheese.
Can you get a good burger at Time Out Market Porto?
Yes. Brusco, #2 in this guide, runs a smash burger counter at Time Out Market Porto in São Bento station. The market opens daily from 10:30am to midnight and takes no reservations.
Where can I eat a burger near the beach in Foz do Douro?
Brusco (Rua do Passeio Alegre 412) and Crave (Rua do Ouro 428) both have Foz branches. Peebz, by the beach on Rua Senhora da Luz, is a long-running local option. Check it is open first.
Are there vegetarian or vegan burgers in Porto?
Yes. Musa das Virtudes offers a vegan option alongside its brisket Onion Burger. Ask the other places on this list directly, because my sources do not detail their meat-free options.
Do I need to book, and which burger places close on Mondays?
You cannot book Brusco at Time Out Market Porto, which takes no reservations. OPO Smash Burgers is closed on Mondays. My sources do not give booking rules or full weekly hours for the other places, so check their current listings.
Burger or francesinha: what should I eat in Porto?
Eat both, on different days. The francesinha, bread layered with steak, sausage and ham under melted cheese and a hot tomato and beer sauce, is Porto’s benchmark for a heavy sandwich. Our Porto city hub explains its place in local food culture. A burger from Curb or OPO makes the smaller lunch; save the francesinha for a day you can walk it off.

More burger city guides in Europe
Porto now joins our guides to the best burgers by city. For another Iberian food city, read my guide to the best burger in San Sebastián. For a bigger burger scene, compare it with the best burgers in London. Crave and Bira dos Namorados both started or expanded in Braga, which is a good candidate for our next guide.
