MOS Burger Shinmizu, at 2-31 Suyamachi in Mizuho-ku, is the MOS Burger in Nagoya I’d send any burger fan to. It is the chain’s very first franchised restaurant, opened on November 10, 1973, and it still serves every day from 7am to midnight, a 1–2 minute walk from exit 7 of Shinmizubashi subway station. Staying downtown? MOS Burger Sakae 5-chome (モスバーガー 栄五丁目店) is open from 7am to 1am. Since July 15, 2026, the signature MOS Burger costs ¥500 and the Teriyaki Burger ¥490, tax included. One warning before you step off the shinkansen: there is no MOS Burger inside Nagoya Station.

How I put this MOS Burger Nagoya guide together

This guide is built from MOS’s own press releases, Japanese business press and Japanese listing sites, all checked on October 26, 2026. I haven’t eaten at the Nagoya branches myself yet. The branch verdicts below rest on published listings and reviews, and I say so wherever it matters.

Prices come from the July 2026 price list as reported by Impress Watch and Jiji Press. Addresses, phone numbers and hours come from Hotpepper, Ekiten, Retty and NAVITIME. The official mos.jp and netorder store pages for these branches returned errors or wouldn’t display. Anything only they could confirm is left out: seat counts, Wi-Fi, outlets and wheelchair access.

Hours and prices change. Check the official MOS Burger store search for Aichi before you go; MOS itself notes that prices differ at some branches.

Why Nagoya matters to MOS Burger: the first franchise, 1973

Nagoya is where MOS Burger first became a franchise chain. The first MOS franchisee, モスバーガー 新瑞店 (Shinmizu), opened in Mizuho-ku on November 10, 1973, and it was also the first MOS in the region, according to MOS’s press release of October 31, 2023. The restaurant has since moved about 200 m. It is still open.

  • First MOS restaurant: 1972, in Narimasu (Itabashi, Tokyo). The MOS press release dates it to June 1972.
  • First franchise: Shinmizu, Nagoya, November 10, 1973.
  • Size today: 1,306 restaurants in Japan and 1,709 across 7 countries as of September 30, 2026 (MOS Food Services store data).
  • In the Tokai region: MOS counted 115 restaurants across Aichi, Gifu and Mie prefectures in both its 2023 and 2026 regional campaigns.

None of the English-language travel guides I read mentions this history, which is a shame: it is the best reason to cross town for a chain burger. For the wider story of the chain, from its founding to its rice burgers, read the MOS Burger brand profile. For where the burger itself came from before it reached Japan, see the history of the hamburger.

Best MOS Burger in Nagoya: Shinmizu, the first franchise

MOS Burger Shinmizu is the branch to visit if you want a burger with a story: it is where MOS franchising began in 1973. It sits in a residential part of Mizuho-ku, south-east of the centre, right by Shinmizubashi station on the Meijō and Sakura-dōri subway lines.

MOS Burger Shinmizu address, phone and opening hours

MOS Burger Shinmizu is at 2-31 Suyamachi, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya 467-0066, and is open every day from 7am to midnight.

  • Japanese name: モスバーガー 新瑞店 (useful for searching Google Maps)
  • Address: 2-31 Suyamachi, Mizuho-ku, Nagoya 467-0066 (愛知県名古屋市瑞穂区洲山町2-31)
  • Phone: +81 52-853-7688

  • Getting there: 1–2 minutes on foot from exit 7 of Shinmizubashi station (Meijō and Sakura-dōri lines); Ekiten puts it at 83 m

MOS Burger Shinmizu reviews

MOS Burger Shinmizu scores 3.31/5 on Ekiten. That comes from only 3 reviews, so read it as a hint, not a verdict. The reviewers praise a clean dining room, a calm atmosphere, and fish and shrimp burgers that arrive hot because they are made to order. I couldn’t verify a Google or TripAdvisor rating for any MOS in Nagoya.

My verdict: come for the history and a quiet meal, not for the interior. Nowhere else can you eat a MOS burger at the address where the franchise network started, and with the subway exit 83 m away, the detour from Sakae costs you about 20 minutes each way.

MOS Burger in Sakae: the central option open until 1am

MOS Burger Sakae 5-chome is the most practical MOS for visitors staying downtown: it opens at 7am and closes at 1am, every day, with no closing day. You’ll find it on the ground floor of the Century Sakae building, a 3-minute walk from Yabachō station on the Meijō line.

  • Japanese name: モスバーガー 栄五丁目店
  • Address: Century Sakae 1F, 5-1-5 Sakae, Naka-ku, Nagoya
  • Phone: +81 52-241-7218
  • Hours: every day, 7am–1am, according to Retty and Hotpepper
  • Getting there: 3 minutes from Yabachō (Meijō line), 5 minutes from Sakae (Higashiyama line), 7 minutes from Sakaemachi
  • Payment: PayPay accepted; no bank cards, according to Hotpepper
  • Seating: fully non-smoking, with counter seats
  • Parking: plenty of paid car parks nearby

One snippet I found listed 8am–11pm for this branch. The 7am–1am hours above come from Retty and Hotpepper on October 26, 2026, but confirm them before a late visit. Takeout orders through MOS online ordering run from 8am to 10:20pm, according to the branch’s netorder listing.

MOS Burger Sakae 5-chome reviews

On Retty, 78% of reviewers recommend MOS Burger Sakae 5-chome, though that is out of just 5 reviews. They like the early opening for breakfast, burgers loaded with vegetables, the Teriyaki Chicken Burger and the short walk from 3 stations. One reviewer warns that the food comes out very hot.

Bring a phone wallet, not a credit card: if Hotpepper is right, PayPay is the way to pay here.

MOS Burger Nagoya Fushimi

MOS Burger Nagoya Fushimi opened in March 2023 on the ground floor of the Fujita Building, 1-5-8 Sakae, a 1–2 minute walk from exit 7 of Fushimi station. It opens every day and closes at 8pm, the earliest of the four. When it opens is less clear: 7:30am on NAVITIME and netorder, 10am on Retty. Check mos.jp before planning breakfast there. It accepts PayPay.

MOS Burger Meieki-Minami

MOS Burger Meieki-Minami is open every day from 8am to midnight, according to Hotpepper in 2026, later than the 8am–11pm a local guide reported in 2017. It is at 4-35 Matsushige-cho, Nakagawa-ku, Nagoya 454-0003, an 11-minute walk from exit 3 of Ōsu Kannon station. It also delivers through Uber Eats.

Is there a MOS Burger at Nagoya Station?

No, there is no MOS Burger inside Nagoya Station. The closest options are Meieki-Minami, south of the station, and Nagoya Fushimi, which NAVITIME lists as the nearest MOS to the station’s Taikō-dōri exit. A 2017 local guide (guruguru.nagoya) also pointed to a MOS at Market Square Sasashima, near Sasashima-Live station on the Aonami line. I couldn’t confirm that branch is still open, so treat it as unverified.

MOS Burger Nagoya menu and prices (October 2026)

Since July 15, 2026, the MOS Burger costs ¥500 and the Teriyaki Burger ¥490, tax included. The increase covered about 80% of the menu and was the first since March 2025 (Impress Watch, Jiji Press). Older listings still show the MOS Burger at ¥470; ignore them.

Item Before From July 15, 2026
MOS Burger ¥470 ¥500
Teriyaki Burger ¥470 ¥490
MOS Chicken ¥320 ¥340
Fries S ¥270 ¥290
Fries M ¥330 ¥340
Soft drink M ¥270 ¥290

Fries L, soft drink L, corn soup, clam chowder and the chili dip sauce kept their old prices. I couldn’t find a dated source for current prices of the MOS Cheese Burger, rice burgers, Soy Patty, Green Burger, shakes or set meals, so they’re not listed.

What to order at MOS Burger in Nagoya

On a first visit, order the MOS Burger (¥500) and the Teriyaki Burger (¥490). Between them, they show what MOS does differently from American chains. Skip the fries, which are the same as anywhere else, and spend the ¥290 on MOS Chicken instead.

  • MOS Burger (¥500): the chain’s signature burger.
  • Teriyaki Burger (¥490): reworked on March 18, 2026 with a sauce made from 3 sugars and apple purée (Entabe). Two richer versions, Toro-Tamago Bacon Teriyaki and Cheese Bacon Teriyaki, launched alongside it as a limited series at ¥590, a price set before the July rise. To cook one at home, try my colleague Clara’s copycat MOS teriyaki burger recipe.
  • Teriyaki Chicken Burger: the one Sakae 5-chome reviewers single out.
  • MOS Chicken (¥340): fried chicken to share on the side.
  • Fish and shrimp burgers: Shinmizu reviewers praise them for arriving hot.

Nagoya-only MOS burgers: miso katsu and Taiwan ramen

MOS has sold burgers made for the Tokai region only, built on Nagoya meshi, the city’s own food culture. Both editions below were limited runs and are most likely off the menu as of October 2026. Treat them as past specials and check the MOS menu for what’s on now.

Misokatsu Burger with Hatchō miso (2023)

For 50 years of MOS in Tokai, the chain sold a Misokatsu Burger (¥480) and a Misokatsu Rice Burger (¥510) from November 1, 2023, in 115 restaurants across Aichi, Gifu and Mie. Both paired a pork cutlet and cabbage with a sauce made from Hatchō miso by Noda Miso’s Masuzuka brand, from Toyota in Aichi (MOS press release). Dark Hatchō miso is the same base as Nagoya’s classic miso katsu.

Taiwan ramen-style menchi-katsu burger (2026)

From March 3, 2026, 115 Tokai restaurants (all but the Moricoro Park branch) sold the Torori Taiwan Ramen-fū Menchi-katsu Burger at ¥690. It was a collaboration with Chukyo TV’s morning show Asa Dore♪, produced by Honoka Aikawa of the idol group SKE48 (PR TIMES). It came with a Mazeru Shake Coffee Caramel made with Ise soy sauce, at ¥350 (S) and ¥430 (M).

Not everyone was won over. A Nagoya food blogger who tried it in March 2026 gave it 3/5: saltier than spicy, with a runny omelette that drowned out the Taiwan ramen flavour (tabitogurume). I still think these regional specials are the best reason to pick MOS over a global chain in Nagoya. The miso katsu edition, built on a local Masuzuka miso, is exactly the kind of local-first burger McDonald’s doesn’t attempt. Watch for the next one.

MOS Burger Nagoya opening hours: breakfast and late night

MOS Burger covers both an early breakfast and a late bite in Nagoya. Shinmizu and Sakae 5-chome open at 7am, Meieki-Minami at 8am. After dark, Sakae 5-chome is your best bet until 1am; Shinmizu and Meieki-Minami close at midnight. Fushimi shuts at 8pm.

Ordering online and delivery in Nagoya
