Smash, vegan, fish and halal burgers in Ixelles, Saint-Gilles and the city centre, with addresses, hours, euro prices and a transparent ranking method.

LA-style smash burger with a crispy-edged beef patty and melted American cheese, the style behind the best burger in Brussels

The best burger in Brussels in 2026 is Rambo’s LA-style smash burger. While its Rue Washington site is renovated, Rambo is serving from Place Albert Leemans 10 in Ixelles, every day from noon to 10 pm, with burgers at €12 to €16. Manhattn’s Burgers comes second, with Irish grass-fed Angus beef at five Brussels addresses. Bintje in Ixelles is third and the best value: smash burgers for €8 to €10. Vegan near the Grand Place? Kitsune. A fish burger? Fish Tank, in the Marolles.

One thing up front, because it shapes everything below: this ranking comes from the record, not from a single tasting session. I read the recent Belgian food press, the Best Burger Benelux results, Restaurant Guru review counts and the restaurants’ own websites. On 10 October 2026 I rechecked the Rambo, Manhattn’s and HUGGYS details against their latest sources. Where sources disagree, I say so. Two older favourites I could not confirm as open in 2026 sit in a separate section, unranked. Green Mango, at No. 7, is the one ranked pick whose 2026 status I could not fully confirm, and I flag it there. The full method and sources are at the end.

The 8 best burger restaurants in Brussels, ranked

Rambo, Manhattn’s and Bintje take the top three because they combine the most recent press coverage, a clear house style and confirmed 2026 details. My take: if you have time for one burger in Brussels, make it Rambo’s Classic. If you’re watching your budget, go to Bintje. Places four to eight cover the other styles a burger lover looks for in Brussels: vegan, Belgian beef with house beer, fish, a huge menu and a chain launched as halal.

Most-reviewed burger restaurants in Brussels on Restaurant Guru, May 2026: Black & White Burger Anspach 21,004 reviews, Manhattn’s Bourse 9,969, Black & White Docks 8,555, Manhattn’s Louise 8,244, Green Mango Ixelles 3,022, Bintje 1,397 (Chart: Burger Breton, data from Restaurant Guru (https://restaurantguru.com/burgers-Brussels-m3), May 2026 (1600×720 PNG; rebuild with localized labels and number formats per locale))

1. Rambo: the best smash burger in Brussels

Rambo brought the LA-style smash burger to Brussels and is the top pick in this guide. It was founded by John Prigogine and Xavier Chen, the team behind Old Boy (formerly Lil Boy), and Le Fooding includes it in its July 2026 list of the city’s best burgers.

The Rambo Classic is a smashed Black Angus patty with ketchup, mild mustard, pickles, raw white onion and American cheddar in a buttered, toasted potato bun. That’s it. The Special adds a secret sauce and lettuce. Fries come from Domac and ice cream from Gaston, and you can swap the beef for a Beyond Meat patty. It ranks first because nobody else in the city has been cited this consistently for this one style. If the bun is what wins you over, try our homemade burger buns recipe.

  • Address (temporary): Place Albert Leemans 10, 1050 Ixelles (Châtelain), while the façade at Rue Washington 7 is renovated. Check which site is open before you go.
  • Other sites: Saint-Boniface, Sainte-Catherine, plus Waterloo and Antwerp outside the capital.
  • Hours: every day, noon to 10 pm.
  • Prices: burgers €12 to €16, meals €17 to €21 (Le Fooding, 2026). The €10 price quoted in 2021 and 2022 articles is out of date.

2. Manhattn’s Burgers: the best Belgian burger chain in Brussels

Manhattn’s Burgers is a Belgian chain that serves Irish grass-fed Angus beef, supplied by a family business in Ireland, in a bakery bun with fresh Belgian fries. It has five Brussels addresses, opens seven days a week and does not take reservations.

Its vegetarian bestseller is the Brooklyn Falafel, with tzatziki and beetroot ketchup, which The Brussels Times picked out in its 2024 burger round-up. The brand has grown abroad too: it opened its 13th restaurant in France in September 2026. On Restaurant Guru, the Bourse branch had 9,969 reviews and the Louise branch 8,244 in May 2026. A chain ranked second? Yes. Few independents can keep the same beef and the same bun across five sites.

  • Addresses: Rue Henri Maus 39, 1000 Brussels (Bourse); Avenue de Tervueren 9, 1040 Etterbeek (Merode); Avenue Louise 164, 1050 Ixelles; Chaussée de Boondael 290, 1050 Ixelles; Fox Food Market, Boulevard du Souverain 25, 1170 Watermael-Boitsfort.
  • Hours: Monday to Sunday, 11:30 am to 10:30 pm, no reservations.

3. Bintje: the best cheap smash burger in Ixelles

Bintje is a small smash burger spot in Ixelles serving three Holstein beef burgers for €8 to €10, the lowest prices among the top picks. It is a short walk from the Place du Châtelain and the Bailli tram stop.

Place du Châtelain in Ixelles, near Rambo’s temporary smash burger site and Bintje on Rue Simonis Place du Châtelain in Ixelles, the neighbourhood of Rambo’s temporary site at Place Albert Leemans 10 and a short walk from Bintje’s smash burgers on Rue Simonis (4032×3024) (Photo: Bernard Lee, CC0 1.0, via Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Place\_du\_Ch%C3%A2telain\_(1).jpg). Original photos of Rambo’s and Bintje’s burgers still needed)

Three burgers, no more. The Bête Cheese comes with ketchup and mustard, the BBBQ with bacon and caramelised onions, and the Bintje Mac with a secret sauce. The fries are organic, peeled and cut on site every day, the sauces are made in-house and the beers come from Brussels. A baby burger costs €5 and fries €4.90. At these prices, with fries cut by hand, it’s the best value in this guide.

  • Address: Rue Simonis 62, 1050 Ixelles (Simonis).
  • Hours: every day 6 pm to 10 pm, plus lunch on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday (Le Fooding, updated February 2025).

4. Kitsune Burger: the best vegan burger in Brussels

Kitsune Burger is a 100% vegan restaurant serving Asian fusion burgers in the Îlot Sacré, a two-minute walk from the Grand Place. It won Best Fast Food at the Belgian Vegan Awards 2023 and was the only Brussels restaurant in the top 10 of the Best Burger Benelux competition in July 2024.

Its signature is the Korean Fried Mushroom: crispy oyster mushroom nuggets with gochujang sauce, kimchi slaw, pickled mustard seeds and iceberg lettuce in a Hokkaido brioche bun. Kitsune was founded by Guillaume Le Cavorzin, formerly of Charlotte Café and Café Charbon, and Pauline Rosselin, a former biology teacher. That competition result carries weight: the Best Burger Benelux jury visited 50 restaurants, and each finalist had to make six identical burgers in 30 minutes. No meat burger in the city centre has a result like that.

  • Address: Petite Rue des Bouchers 25, 1000 Brussels (Îlot Sacré).
  • Prices: burgers €9 to €13, sides €3.50 to €7, desserts €6.
  • Hours: the French and English versions of Le Fooding list different opening times, so check Kitsune’s Google or Instagram profile before you go.

5. HUGGYS: Belgian beef and house beer near Avenue Louise

HUGGYS is a Belgian burger brand, founded in 2012, that uses 100% Belgian beef and serves its own beers, brewed with La Brasserie C. It has two Brussels restaurants, both close to Avenue Louise.

Signature burgers include Le Magic Tom, Le Colonel, Le HUGGYS Bacon, Le Korean Fried Chicken and Le Liégeois. The brand opened its 13th restaurant, in Waterloo, on 10 October 2026. If you want a burger with a beer brewed for the house, this is the stop.

  • Bruxelles 2 Louise: Rue Jourdan 8, 1060 Saint-Gilles, near the Louise stop. Open every day, noon to 10 pm, with an upstairs room for 24 people.
  • Bruxelles 1 Legrand: Avenue Louise 519, 1050 Ixelles.

6. Fish Tank: the best fish burger in Brussels

Fish Tank is the place for a fish burger in Brussels, and it occupies the old Dangel fishmonger’s shop in the Marolles. A meal of the whiting burger with melted cheddar and iceberg lettuce, fries and a sauce costs €15.

It was founded by Milan La Roche and Loïc De Doncker, with chef Morgane Brees in the kitchen. Choose between tartare sauce, seaweed mayonnaise and harissa. Go at lunch, when it is open every day it trades. On a Saturday, combine it with the Jeu de Balle flea market a few streets away.

  • Hours: noon to 3 pm, until 9 pm on Friday and Saturday and 6 pm on Sunday. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

7. Green Mango: the biggest burger menu in Brussels

Green Mango offers more than 37 burgers, the longest menu on this list, including raclette versions and giant burgers stacked with 2 to 7 patties. It also makes its own smoothies and lemonades, in a tropical-themed dining room.

Marie Claire Belgique and Paris Match Belgique both recommend it. The Ixelles branch had 3,022 reviews on Restaurant Guru in May 2026. I rank it for range, not refinement: when a group can’t agree on what to order, this menu settles it.

  • Addresses: Parvis de Saint-Gilles 28, 1060 Saint-Gilles; Chaussée de Vleurgat 142 (Louise and Ixelles area); Rue de la Paix 51, 1050 Ixelles.
  • Status: I could not confirm that all three branches are open in 2026, or find an official website. Check before you go.

8. Black & White Burger: the most-reviewed burger near De Brouckère

Black & White Burger is a burger chain launched as a halal concept and known for its black and white buns, with a branch on Boulevard Anspach in the city centre. With 21,004 reviews on Restaurant Guru in May 2026, it was the most-reviewed burger restaurant in Brussels by far.

The brand was launched in Paris in 2018 by the YouTubers IbraTV (Ibraguim Tsetchoev) and Djam (Djamboulat Marzaganov). The second Brussels branch, in the Docks Bruxsel shopping centre, had 8,555 reviews. Volume isn’t quality, though, and that’s why it ranks eighth rather than first: none of the food press I used puts it among the city’s best.

  • Addresses: Boulevard Anspach 4, 1000 Brussels (De Brouckère and La Monnaie); Docks Bruxsel (Bockstael, Laeken).
  • Halal: the concept was launched as halal, but I could not confirm the status of the Brussels branches on an official source. Ask the staff.
  • Link: the brand’s restaurant page returned an error when I checked it, so no link yet.

Two Brussels burger favourites to check before you go

Chez Henri and BAM have strong credentials, but I found no source confirming that either was still open in 2026. They are listed here as leads, not ranked picks.

Chez Henri, Etterbeek: 2022 best homemade burger in Brussels

In 2022, Chez Henri won the Confrérie du Burger Maison’s award for the best homemade burger in Brussels, ahead of 33 other restaurants. It is an urban counter on the Place Saint-Pierre in Etterbeek. The burger combines fresh beef from the Abattoirs, red onion, rocket, melted Gouda and a house sauce. The bun is made from Italian pizzeria dough and baked to order. Want to bake your own? Start with our homemade burger buns recipe.

BAM, Ixelles: closed burgers by a Top Chef Belgium contestant

BAM, at Avenue de la Couronne 459, 1050 Ixelles (near the Cimetière d’Ixelles), serves closed burgers: the bread wraps the whole filling. It was created by Martin Volkaerts, a Top Chef Belgium 2015 contestant and Gault&Millau Young Chef of the Year 2022. In October 2024, a burger alone cost €10 to €15 and a meal €15 to €20.

Best smash burger in Brussels: Rambo vs Bintje

For a smash burger in Brussels, the top two are Rambo and Bintje, and both made Elle Belgique’s smash burger list. Choose Rambo for the classic LA-style build in a potato bun, every day from noon. Choose Bintje for lower prices and hand-cut organic fries, mostly in the evening.

Rambo Bintje
Style LA-style smash, Black Angus, potato bun Holstein beef smash, three burgers
Burger price €12–16 €8–10 (baby burger €5)
Fries Domac Organic, peeled and cut on site daily
Hours Every day, noon to 10 pm Every day 6–10 pm, plus Wed, Sat and Sun lunch
Area Châtelain (Place Albert Leemans 10, temporary) Simonis (Rue Simonis 62)

Both sit in the same league as the Paris smash chain we covered in Junk Smash Burgers Paris. To make your own, follow our ShackBurger copycat recipe or the Five Guys cheeseburger copycat.

Burgers near the Grand Place and in Brussels city centre

Rambo also has a branch in Sainte-Catherine, and Fish Tank is about 15 minutes’ walk south in the Marolles.

Which Brussels neighbourhood is best for burgers?

Ixelles has the highest concentration of good burgers in Brussels: Rambo’s temporary site and its Saint-Boniface branch, Bintje, two Manhattn’s, HUGGYS Legrand and Green Mango are all there.

  • Ixelles (Châtelain, Saint-Boniface, Louise, Simonis): Rambo Châtelain and Saint-Boniface, Bintje, Manhattn’s Louise and Boondael, HUGGYS Legrand, Green Mango Rue de la Paix.

Brussels burger culture: friteries, mitraillette and sauces

Brussels had its own burger-style sandwich long before the smash burger boom: the mitraillette. It is half a baguette filled with meat, often a beef patty, topped with fries and sauce, and sold by friteries. Belgian fries are traditionally fried twice, and every counter offers andalouse, samouraï and américaine sauces next to the mayonnaise. Read more in our Brussels burger city guide.

How this Brussels burger ranking was built

This ranking is an editorial selection built from published sources, not from tasting sessions. I shortlisted restaurants that appear repeatedly in recent Belgian food press, then ranked them on how recent and consistent that coverage is, competition results, review volume and confirmed 2026 details (address, hours, prices).
