When I checked the Rappi delivery menu on 2026-10-09, the signature Cheeseburger Madero cost R$57, and the other burgers ranged from R$50 to R$87. On Google, RioMar scores 4.5/5 and Iguatemi 4.4/5. Read the reviews and a pattern shows up fast. The burger wins people over. The service loses some of them.

Madero RioMar Fortaleza (Papicu): address and opening hours

Madero RioMar is on level L3 of the RioMar Fortaleza mall, R. Des. Lauro Nogueira, 1500, in Papicu. It opens at 11:45 a.m. every day and closes at 10:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday and at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

This is where Madero started in Ceará. The restaurant opened on September 13, 2018, two days after a press preview, and was the chain’s fifth in Brazil’s Northeast, according to Portal IN. Portal IN put the investment at about R$3.5 million.

It sits on the mall’s Boulevard de Restaurantes. When it opened, local food site Sabores da Cidade measured it at around 549 m² with 166 seats. The official page lists dine-in, table reservations, takeout, delivery and gift cards. To book, call (85) 3111-6033.

In 2018 it closed at midnight on weekends, and some older listings still show those times. Ignore them: the hours above are the current official ones.

Madero Iguatemi Fortaleza (Iguatemi Bosque): address and opening hours

Madero Iguatemi is on the second floor of the Iguatemi Bosque mall, Av. Washington Soares, 85, in Edson Queiroz. It keeps the same hours as RioMar: 11:45 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and 11:45 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

Locals may still call the mall Shopping Iguatemi Fortaleza, its name until 2022. That year, its 40th, it was renamed Iguatemi Bosque. It belongs to the Jereissati Centros Comerciais group and sits near Cocó State Park. Madero is in the Praça de Alimentação Parque, in the mall’s expansion area.

This second Fortaleza restaurant opened at 6 p.m. on August 21, 2019. Portal IN reported an R$8.7 million investment, more than twice RioMar’s, and room for 212 diners. Architect Kethlen Ribas Durski designed it.

Iguatemi takes reservations and offers takeout and delivery. Groups can book ahead, with one catch: at least half the party has to be there before anyone is seated. The phone number is (85) 3512-0196. According to the mall’s Madero page, some products from Jeronimo, the group’s smash burger brand, are sold here for delivery only.

There is one thing I could not settle. The mall page says its food areas close at 10 p.m., but Madero’s own page says 10:30 or 11 p.m. If you are planning a late dinner, call first.

Madero Steak House Fortaleza menu and burger prices (BRL)

The Cheeseburger Madero is the burger the chain built its name on, and the one I would order first. It is a 180 g patty on a crusty bun with organic lettuce and tomato, cheddar-style cheese and house-made mayonnaise. Nothing exotic, and that is the point. On the Rappi menu for the Iguatemi (Edson Queiroz) restaurant it costs R$57.

Prices have risen since Madero arrived. When Sabores da Cidade visited RioMar in September 2018, the Madero Bacon cost R$44. Today it is R$63 on Rappi, about 43% more. Bear in mind that this compares a 2018 dining-room price with a 2026 delivery price, so the true rise may be smaller.

Burgers are only part of the menu. The official Iguatemi page also lists salads, starters, chicken, beef, sandwiches, vegetarian/vegan dishes, desserts and a wine list. RioMar holds 4.5/5 from about 2,700 Google reviews. The praise goes to the burger and the beef, especially the bife de chorizo, along with the choripán, the room, the ice-cold beer and attentive waiters. The complaints come back to the same points: waiting to catch a server, repeating an order, high prices and few local beers. On TripAdvisor the score is lower, between 3.7/5 and 4.0/5 from about 80 reviews, depending on which aggregator you read.

Iguatemi holds 4.4/5 from 1,643 Google reviews, according to Restaurant Guru. Reviewers single out the Madero Bacon Super, often written up as the ‘Super Bacon’, for its crusty bun, and they call the executive lunch menu good value. The complaints are about speed. Some report waits of more than 45 minutes and too few staff, and the pasta disappoints. A separate ‘Madero Shopping Iguatemi’ Google listing shows 3.7/5 from 18 reviews. It looks like a duplicate, so I left it out of the main score.

Madero is a Brazilian steak house chain with table service, and it is best known for its cheeseburger. It is not a fast-food counter. Chef Junior Durski founded it, and the first Madero Steak House opened in Curitiba on June 7, 2005.

According to its investor relations profile, Grupo Madero ran 355 restaurants in 283 multi-brand operations as of March 31, 2026. Its brands are Madero (Steak House, Burger), Jeronimo (Smash Burger, Track), the hybrid Madero & Jeronimo format, Madero Café and Empório Madero. Much of the food starts in a central kitchen in Ponta Grossa, Paraná: 32,408 m², four production units, open since 2015. In 2026 the group went abroad for the first time, to Paraguay.

For American readers, think of a casual full-service steak house inside a mall. There are waiters and a wine list, the menu is built around beef, and the burger is the dish everyone comes back for.

Is Madero Fortaleza worth it for burger lovers?

Yes, if you want a consistent Brazilian chain burger in a comfortable sit-down room. Order the Cheeseburger Madero or one of the bacon versions, and don’t go in a hurry. If you only have time for one burger in Fortaleza, though, I would spend it on a local independent. A Madero in Fortaleza is the same as a Madero in Curitiba or São Paulo, and that consistency is both its strength and its limit.

Of the two, I would pick RioMar. Its Google score is higher, from almost twice as many reviews, and its complaints are about uneven service, not 45-minute waits. Choose Iguatemi if you are already near Cocó Park or Edson Queiroz, or if you are going for the executive lunch.
