Gasoline Grill is Copenhagen’s best-known burger chain, with 10 addresses listed on its official site, from the old town to Hellerup, Tivoli and the airport. The one everybody asks about is shut: the original gas station on Landgreven is listed as “Temporarily closed” after its lease ended on June 1, 2026. A burger costs DKK 100 to DKK 110 and a combo meal starts at DKK 155 on the official pre-order menu, which I checked on October 13, 2026. Most locations open daily at 11:00 and close when the day’s beef runs out. Go early.

If you are planning a wider burger trip, start with our guide to the best burger in Copenhagen, then come back here for the practical details on Gasoline Grill.

Gasoline Grill Copenhagen at a glance

Is the Landgreven gas station still open?

Treat the original Gasoline Grill at Landgreven 10 as closed. Its main lease expired on June 1, 2026, and the official site lists it as “Temporarily closed”. According to the City of Copenhagen, the building is due to be demolished as part of a renovation of the underground car park beneath it, a project costing more than DKK 115 million.

On August 25, 2025, the city’s Technical and Environmental Committee (Teknik- og Miljøudvalget) decided to put the site out to public tender for a new lease. Danish broadcasters TV 2 Kosmopol and DR covered the planned closure, and Klaus Wittrup reportedly described Landgreven to the press as “almost the foundation” of the company. It is hard to argue with him. This forecourt is the address Bloomberg put on its world list in January 2017, months before a second location existed.

I found no published date for the last service at Landgreven, and none for the demolition. As of October 13, 2026, the closure is announced and the site shows as closed, but it is not confirmed as demolished. If you came looking for the “gas station burger in Copenhagen”, walk to Niels Hemmingsens Gade or Købmagergade instead. Both are a few minutes away in the old town.

Best Gasoline Grill location for a first visit

The best Gasoline Grill location for a first visit is Købmagergade 23. It is the only address the chain explicitly lists with indoor seating and a terrace, and it is the one I would send a friend to. It opened in April 2025 in the former Falafel House, with a mirrored wall and an artwork by the artist Danh Vo.

Niels Hemmingsens Gade 20, a few minutes away, is takeaway only. The official page says “Seating: Not available”, so expect to eat standing up or on a bench nearby.

Gasoline Grill at Copenhagen Airport and Tivoli

Yes, you can eat Gasoline Grill at Copenhagen Airport and in Tivoli, but both are franchises rather than company-run restaurants. The airport location in Terminal 2 opens at 6:00, the earliest in the chain. Tivoli opens at 11:30. Ownership details come from Wikitia, a secondary source that relies on the Danish business daily Børsen.

Gasoline Grill opening hours and the “sold out” model

Gasoline Grill opens every day at 11:00 and stays open until the stock runs out, not until a fixed closing time. That is the official policy on gasolinegrill.com, checked on October 13, 2026. The exceptions are Brøens Gadekøkken (12:00), Tivoli (11:30), the airport (6:00) and Købmagergade, which serves breakfast from 7:30 to 11:00 before switching to burgers.

The reason is the beef. According to the food writer Anders Husa, each location grinds its meat every day, and when the day’s batch is gone, the kitchen closes. Turn up late in the afternoon and you risk finding the shutter down.

Breakfast is less clear. The official site lists it at Købmagergade daily from 7:30 to 11:00, but the listings site ma.to presented “The Lumberjack” breakfast as a Sunday-only offer, from 9:00 to 11:00, in August 2026. Check before you set an alarm.

A burger at Gasoline Grill costs DKK 100 to DKK 110 and a combo meal starts at DKK 155, according to the official pre-order menu for Landgreven, checked on October 13, 2026. Prices can vary by location, so treat them as “from” prices.

A travel blog, Flavors on the Road, reported different prices in February 2026: Original at DKK 100, Cheeseburger, Green Burger and Butterburger at DKK 110, and combos at DKK 165 to 170 depending on location. It also noted that the Original is not served at Brøens Gadekøkken. Prices move, and they differ between addresses, so budget on the high side.

What to order at Gasoline Grill

Order the Cheeseburger on a first visit. It is the burger the chain describes in most detail on its own site: “100% Organic beef, freshly ground in-house daily. Creamy organic Cheddar Cheese, fresh red onion and organic pickles.” Four components and nothing to hide a weak patty behind. That restraint is why I would start here.

Add fries and one dip. The house Gasoline Sauce costs DKK 10. The Butterburger is the curiosity on the board: The Copenhagen Post described it in 2017 as a burger with a knob of butter instead of cheese. The 2026 menu still lists it at DKK 110, but I found no current description, so ask at the counter before you order it.

Vegetarian options at Gasoline Grill

Gasoline Grill’s vegetarian burger is the Matr Burger, from DKK 100, made with a fermented plant-based patty developed with the Danish company Matr. There is also a seasonal Green Burger at DKK 100. Neither is confirmed as fully vegan, so ask about the bun, cheese and sauce at the counter.

Gasoline Grill’s reputation comes from a short, focused method: organic beef ground on site every day, a semi-smashed patty cooked on the plancha and a potato bun. That is how Anders Husa describes it in his guide to the best burgers in Copenhagen, where Gasoline Grill ranks first with 9.3/10 (guide first published May 13, 2021, updated July 19, 2026).

The international buzz started early. In January 2017, The Copenhagen Post reported that Bloomberg had named Gasoline Grill among the 27 best burgers in the world, the only spot in Northern Europe on the list. Scott Collins of the London chain Meatliquor was quoted crediting the Noma team with the tip. In 2024, the chain took its burgers to London for a pop-up at The Standard in King’s Cross.

Is Gasoline Grill really organic?

Yes. Gasoline Grill holds the Økologisk Spisemærke, the Danish state organic dining label, but sources disagree on the level: Visit Copenhagen lists silver, while Wikitia says the chain reached gold in 2022. The official register did not settle it. On the menu, the beef, cheddar, pickles, lemonade and beer are all marked organic.

Gasoline Grill Copenhagen reviews

Reviews of Gasoline Grill are split: individual locations score highly on Google, while the brand scores 1.6/5 on Trustpilot. The gap is less contradictory than it looks. Google ratings track a single restaurant, while Trustpilot reviews of gasolinegrill.com tend to come from customers with a complaint.

Platform Rating Number of reviews Checked
Google, Strandgade (Brøens) 4.4/5 1,415 Oct 13, 2026, via That’s Up
Google, Værnedamsvej 4.4/5 639 Oct 13, 2026, via That’s Up
Trustpilot (gasolinegrill.com) 1.6/5 215 Oct 13, 2026
Anders Husa, best burgers in Copenhagen 9.3/10, ranked no. 1 Editorial Updated July 19, 2026

Gasoline Grill reviews compared: 4.4/5 on Google for Strandgade (1,415 reviews) and Værnedamsvej (639), versus 1.6/5 on Trustpilot (215 reviews) and 9.3/10 from Anders Husa, checked October 13, 2026. (Chart: Burger Breton, data from Trustpilot, That’s Up (Google ratings) and andershusa.com, checked October 13, 2026)

On Trustpilot, 63% of reviews give 1 star and 13% give 5 stars, with 39 reviews in the last 12 months. The brand replies to negative reviews. Recurring complaints are inconsistent quality (soggy buns, overcooked fries), high prices and a few reports of undercooked chicken. Recurring praise is for a juicy patty and fast service.

My read: the Trustpilot score is a consistency problem, not a burger problem. Soggy buns and tired fries are what happens when food waits. Nobody complains about the patty. So is it worth the queue? Yes, if you go close to opening, order the Cheeseburger and eat it on the spot. Crossing town at 17:00 for a burger that may already be sold out is not, and the city has other good options (see below).

How I compiled this guide

I built this guide from Gasoline Grill’s official locations pages and pre-order menu, Copenhagen city council minutes, Danish press (DR, TV 2 Kosmopol, HORESTA), The Copenhagen Post, Visit Copenhagen, Anders Husa’s ranking and review platforms. Every price, rating and status was checked on October 13, 2026. The two Google ratings are second-hand, taken from That’s Up. The Tripadvisor rating, Google ratings for Niels Hemmingsens Gade and Købmagergade, payment methods per location, step-free access, parking and nearest transit stops could not be retrieved, so they are left out.

Practical tips: queues, pre-ordering and payment

The best way to skip the queue at Gasoline Grill is to pre-order in the Gasoline Grill app. It is the only way to order ahead, since the chain takes no reservations. On weekends, arrive soon after opening to beat the sold-out sign.

  • Pre-order: use the Gasoline Grill app, then collect at the counter.
  • Timing: go close to 11:00 (12:00 at Brøens) rather than late afternoon.
  • Seating: choose Købmagergade if you want to sit down; Niels Hemmingsens Gade is takeaway only.
  • Payment: cards are accepted almost everywhere in Copenhagen, and some Danish venues are cashless. Payment methods were not verified location by location, so carry a card.
  • Contact: there is no public phone number; the chain’s email is hello@gasolinegrill.com.

And The Burger Concept in Copenhagen?

The Burger Concept no longer operates in Copenhagen: the Danish chain filed for bankruptcy in early May 2026, and its only Copenhagen restaurant, at Frederiksborggade 7 near Nørreport, is listed online as permanently closed. The founders, brothers Morten and Simon Franck Jakobsen, filed the petition themselves, according to the trade body HORESTA (May 8, 2026) and Nyheder.dk (May 4, 2026).

Founded in 2018, The Burger Concept grew to about 17 restaurants at its peak and had negative equity of DKK 9.1 million, according to Din Avis and HORESTA. Only franchised outlets carried on, in Sønderborg, Horsens, Kolding and perhaps Odense, some possibly under another name. The Nørreport branch had a 3.4/5 Google rating (1,044 reviews) and 2.0/5 on Tripadvisor (21 reviews), per Wanderlog. Its official page is still online but out of date, so do not rely on it. If you searched for “Burger Concept Copenhagen”, Gasoline Grill is the closest chain alternative in the city centre.

Other burger stops in Copenhagen and the Nordics

Gasoline Grill is the city’s best-known burger chain, but not its only one. Jagger, Halifax, Tommi’s Burger Joint and POPL, the burger restaurant from the Noma team, are also on the map. We cover the wider scene in our best burger in Copenhagen guide and across the Restaurants section.
