Five Guys lists 4 restaurants under Richmond, VA: West Broad Shoppes - Richmond VCU (931 West Broad Street), Forest Hill (7017 Forest Hill Ave.), Willow Lawn (1601 Willow Lawn Dr) and Laburnum Station (4450 S. Laburnum Ave). If you only pick one, go to Five Guys Richmond VCU at 931 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220 (804-359-0059): it is on the VCU campus, the GRTC Pulse runs past it on Broad Street, and it is one of only 2 inside city limits. Driving? Willow Lawn edges it on Google, 4.4 against 4.2, and it is the only one with curbside pickup. Reviewers praise hot, fresh burgers and generous fries. The complaint that keeps coming back is price. One warning: this guide covers Richmond, Virginia, not the Five Guys in Richmond, London.

A note on city limits: only the VCU and Forest Hill restaurants are confirmed inside the City of Richmond, according to Richmond BizSense. Willow Lawn and Laburnum Station have Richmond mailing addresses but belong to the wider metro area. So, strictly, that’s 2 restaurants in the city and 2 just outside it.
Five Guys near VCU: 931 West Broad Street
The Five Guys closest to VCU is West Broad Shoppes - Richmond VCU, at 931 West Broad Street, Richmond, VA 23220, on the VCU campus. Its official page lists dine-in, takeout, delivery and online ordering (Five Guys Richmond VCU). If the page doesn’t answer your question, call 804-359-0059.
Until Forest Hill opened, it was the only Five Guys inside city limits. When the chain announced Forest Hill in October 2019, BizSense called the new restaurant the second in the city, after the one at 931 W. Broad St. I could not confirm the year the VCU location opened.
Getting there without a car is easy. The GRTC Pulse, Richmond’s bus rapid transit line, runs along Broad Street, with stations including VCU & VUU (Broad and Shafer), Allison Street and Arts District (Broad and Adams) (GRTC Pulse). I haven’t checked which station is closest to the door, so look at the GRTC map before you ride.

Five Guys Forest Hill Ave: the Southside option
Five Guys Forest Hill, at 7017 Forest Hill Ave., Suite C, Richmond, VA 23225, is the Southside location, in the Shops at Stratford Hills. It offers dine-in, takeout and delivery (official page), and the phone number is 804-332-5062.
This location is a comeback. In October 2019, Richmond BizSense reported that Five Guys was taking over about 2,700 square feet left by Starbucks in the Stratford Hills center, anchored by Publix and Target (Richmond BizSense). The chain had been one of the center’s first tenants. At the time, it was set to be the only Five Guys in Southside. The exact opening date at 7017 is not confirmed.
Watch out for old listings. TripAdvisor still shows a historic Forest Hill page at 7037B Forest Hill Ave. The current address on the official store page is 7017.
Five Guys Willow Lawn and Laburnum Station
Willow Lawn is the West End pick and has the highest Google rating of the four. Laburnum Station covers the East End. Both have Richmond mailing addresses but sit outside city limits.
- Willow Lawn (1601 Willow Lawn Dr, 804-282-5595): dine-in, takeout, curbside pickup and delivery (official page). It is the only Richmond location that lists curbside pickup. The GRTC Pulse has a Willow Lawn station at the west end of the line (GRTC).
- Laburnum Station (4450 S. Laburnum Ave, Suite A, 804-226-1370): dine-in, takeout and delivery (official page).

Willow Lawn also has local ownership history. In February 2014, the Bowers family, former Wendy’s franchisees from Ohio, paid $2.1 million for the Five Guys franchises at Willow Lawn and Innsbrook (10841 W. Broad St.), with development rights in the region (Richmond BizSense). Innsbrook is not on the chain’s Richmond page today, so I left it out of this guide.
Five Guys Richmond hours
I could not verify the hours of any Richmond Five Guys from an official source, so call before you go. The official pages I could access didn’t show hours, and third-party listings cover only VCU and Willow Lawn. I’d rather send you to the phone than print a schedule that might be wrong: every number is in the table above.
Five Guys Richmond menu: what to order
All 4 Richmond locations serve the standard US Five Guys menu. I found no Richmond-only item. The official menu lists burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, fries, shakes and drinks (fiveguys.com/menu):
- Burgers: built to order with free toppings.
- Hot dogs: all-beef, split down the middle and grilled.
- Sandwiches: BLT, grilled cheese and veggie sandwich.
- Fries: Five Guys style or Cajun style, cooked in refined peanut oil.
- Shakes: a vanilla base with mix-ins of your choice.
- Drinks: Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper.
The Richmond store pages repeat the chain’s own claims: more than 250,000 ways to build a burger, more than 1,000 milkshake combinations, fresh beef with no freezers on site, fries cooked twice in 100% peanut oil and free peanuts while you wait (Richmond VCU page).
With one order to place, I’d get a Bacon Cheeseburger, one regular Cajun fries for two and a shake. I’d skip the hot dog: at $9.11 to $12.83 on the Allmenus listing below, it costs as much as a Little Hamburger, and it isn’t why people come here. To rehearse at home, start with my colleague Julia’s copycats: the Five Guys cheeseburger copycat, the Five Guys bacon cheeseburger at home and the single-patty Little Hamburger copycat.

Expect roughly $19 or more before tax and tip for a burger, fries and a drink at Five Guys in Richmond. That figure comes from third-party menu listings that are probably marked up for delivery. Five Guys publishes no in-store prices, so read these as a ceiling, not a menu.

Willow Lawn reviews
Willow Lawn reviewers keep praising consistency, the freedom to customize and friendly staff (Wanderlog). The fries come up again and again: a full cup, then extra tipped into the bag. The one recurring gripe is the taste of the Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain drinks.
VCU reviews
Reviews of the VCU location split hard. On Restaurantji, 50% are 5 stars and 19% are 1 star, with food at 4.1, service at 4.0 and atmosphere at 3.9 (Restaurantji). Reviews from March to September 2026 mention hot, fresh burgers, attentive staff, accurate orders and good handling of allergies and celiac disease. The complaints are high prices and a limited menu. TripAdvisor search snippets add wrong orders and soggy burgers.
How I built this section: I used only ratings I could trace to a named source on October 26, 2026. Yelp and TripAdvisor blocked direct access, so their figures come from aggregators and search snippets. Ratings move fast, so check them again before you go.
Is Five Guys a Virginia chain?
Yes. Five Guys was founded in 1986 in Arlington, Virginia, by Jerry and Janie Murrell, and the first restaurant opened in the Westmont Shopping Center (Wikipedia). The five guys were Jerry and his sons Jim, Matt, Chad and Ben. Tyler, the youngest son, was born two years later.
The chain started franchising in 2003 and passed 1,000 restaurants in the US and Canada in 2012. In 2023 its headquarters moved from Lorton to Alexandria, Virginia, and it is still private and family-owned. So a Five Guys burger in Richmond comes from about 100 miles up the road. By October 2019, according to Richmond BizSense, the Richmond metro area had 10 Five Guys restaurants, counting Colonial Heights and Henrico and Chesterfield counties. Our Five Guys brand profile tells the full story.

Five Guys and peanut allergies
If you have a peanut allergy, Five Guys is a risky choice: the fries are cooked in 100% peanut oil and free peanuts are served in the dining room. Talk to the staff before ordering and read the chain’s US allergen information. Recent VCU reviewers say staff handle allergies well. That doesn’t remove the peanut oil.
Five Guys or a local Richmond burger?
Five Guys is the quick, predictable pick near VCU or on your way through Southside. I wouldn’t plan an evening around it: it is the same menu you’d find at any US Five Guys, and Richmond has better uses of a night out. For a chef-driven burger, go to The Roosevelt in Church Hill.
