Culver’s Milwaukee is not one restaurant. It is a handful of locations spread around the city, and the right one depends on where you are and how late it is. I checked the official page of each location on October 11, 2026. Inside city limits, the three to know are 5501 W Fond du Lac Ave in Midtown, 575 W Layton Ave on the South Side and 7515 W Good Hope Rd on the Northwest Side. The fourth is just outside the city, at 1641 Miller Parkway in West Milwaukee, near the Brewers’ ballpark. Want a ButterBurger after 11 p.m.? Go to Fond du Lac Ave. Its drive-thru stays open until 1 a.m. Thursday through Saturday.

Culver’s Milwaukee locations at a glance
Culver’s has three locations inside the city of Milwaukee and one in the separate village of West Milwaukee, by the ballpark. West Milwaukee and Shorewood are villages in their own right, not city neighborhoods, even if their addresses read like Milwaukee. Culver’s on W Fond du Lac Ave: the late-night pick
For a late meal, choose the Fond du Lac Ave Culver’s in Midtown: its drive-thru keeps the latest hours of any Culver’s in the city. The dining room closes at 11 p.m. every day. The drive-thru keeps going until midnight on Wednesday and until 1 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. You can dine in, use the drive-thru or order online. Franchisee Myron Smith runs it (Culver’s).

Culver’s on W Layton Ave: the South Side stop near the airport
The Layton Ave Culver’s, known locally as “6th & Layton,” is the handiest stop on the South Side and the closest one to the airport. It is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday. It offers dine-in, drive-thru, curbside pickup and online ordering. Franchisee Dimitri Dimitropoulos runs it (Culver’s). It is also the busiest on Yelp: 78 reviews in September 2026, more than any other Culver’s in the city.
Culver’s on W Good Hope Rd: the Northwest Side location
The Good Hope Rd Culver’s serves the Northwest Side and closes earliest of the four: 10 p.m. for both the dining room and the drive-thru. Curbside pickup runs from 10 a.m. to 9:45 p.m., and online ordering is available. Franchisee Jon Fall runs it (Culver’s).
The building has a bit of local history. It is a 4,207-square-foot restaurant on the site of a former Continental Savings Bank branch, with construction planned from March 2008. When it opened, it was the third Culver’s in the city of Milwaukee (BizTimes Milwaukee, December 4, 2007).
Culver’s on Miller Park Way: the one near American Family Field
Yes, there is a Culver’s near American Family Field. It sits at 1641 Miller Parkway in West Milwaukee, on the road that runs past the Brewers’ stadium, which makes it the obvious pre-game or post-game stop. The dining room is open daily from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m., and the drive-thru until 11:30 p.m. Curbside pickup runs 9 a.m.–8 p.m. on Sunday, 9 a.m.–10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m.–8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Franchisee Vinnie Busalacchi runs it (Culver’s).

Shorewood and the closed Grand Avenue location
Two more addresses come up in searches. Only one of them is still worth your time. In the village of Shorewood, just northeast of the city, BizTimes Milwaukee reports a Culver’s at 1325 E. Capitol Drive, run by the Dimitropoulos family since 2002 (BizTimes Milwaukee). I could not confirm its hours or phone number on culvers.com, so it is not in the table. Check the Culver’s locator before you go.
The downtown Culver’s at the Shops of Grand Avenue is gone. It closed on Sunday, December 27, 2015. Its owner, Mike Busalacchi, said the mall had not been renovated enough (WISN 12). Some low-quality directories still list it, with hours that no longer exist. Ignore them.
What is a Culver’s ButterBurger?
A Culver’s ButterBurger is a fresh, never-frozen beef patty, pressed and seared, on a bun whose crown is lightly buttered and toasted. The butter goes on the bun, not in the pan. Craig Culver took the method from his mother. The butter comes from Alcam Creamery, a family creamery in Wisconsin less than an hour from Sauk City (Culver’s).

So it is a restrained take on the Wisconsin butter burger, a style where butter can go on the patty, the bun or both (Wikipedia). My view: the name sells more butter than the burger delivers. If you want the real thing, with the patty cooked in butter and topped with more, our Milwaukee burger page points you to Solly’s Grille in Glendale.
Culver’s Milwaukee menu: what to order
The Culver’s menu in Milwaukee is the national menu: ButterBurgers, fresh frozen custard, Wisconsin cheese curds, chicken, seafood, salads, sandwiches and soups. Every ButterBurger is made to order with fresh beef (Culver’s). These are the burgers on the menu as of October 11, 2026:
- ButterBurger (The Original): the plain benchmark.
- ButterBurger Cheese: the original with cheese.
- The Culver’s Deluxe and The Culver’s Bacon Deluxe: the loaded versions.
- Mushroom & Swiss
- Sourdough Melt: Culver’s take on the patty melt.
- Wisconsin Swiss Melt
- Smoked Cheddar CurderBurger: a limited edition.
Beyond burgers, there are Value Baskets, chicken, seafood, Lemon Ice, kids’ meals, drinks, salads, sauces and dressings, and sandwiches such as the Beef Pot Roast Sandwich (Culver’s). Soups rotate by location. On October 11, 2026, Fond du Lac Ave listed George’s Chili, George’s Chili Supreme and Chicken Noodle. West Milwaukee listed Potato with Bacon and Stuffed Green Pepper, subject to availability.
My order for a first visit
For a first Culver’s meal in Milwaukee, order a ButterBurger Cheese, a side of Wisconsin cheese curds and a dish of the day’s custard. That one tray covers everything the chain is known for. Skip the fries: in Wisconsin, curds are the side that matters, and Culver’s sources them from Wisconsin dairy farms (Culver’s). If the Sourdough Melt becomes your order instead, our Culver’s Sourdough Melt copycat recipe shows how to make it at home.

Culver’s prices in Milwaukee
Culver’s does not publish prices on culvers.com, and prices vary from one franchised location to the next. Aggregator sites list figures, but I could not verify any of them against a Milwaukee restaurant, so I am not printing them. To see current prices, start an online order at your chosen location. The app and website show that restaurant’s prices, in US dollars, before you pay. Menu prices do not include Wisconsin sales tax.
Frozen custard and the Flavor of the Day
Frozen custard is the other half of the Culver’s name. Each restaurant makes it in small batches throughout the day, with dairy from family farms (Culver’s). In Milwaukee that sets a high bar. The city calls itself the frozen custard capital of the world, an unofficial title, and here Culver’s is the newcomer next to stands like Kopp’s, which has been serving custard since 1950.
The Flavor of the Day is a custard flavor that changes daily and differs from one restaurant to the next. The tradition goes back to the first restaurant in Sauk City, where the first flavor was Caramel Pecan. You can take it home by the pint or the quart. To find today’s flavor at a Milwaukee location, use the Flavor of the Day Finder on culvers.com or open the restaurant’s page (Culver’s).

On October 11, 2026, for example, Good Hope Rd had Caramel Cashew, Fond du Lac Ave had OREO Cookie Cheesecake and West Milwaukee had Snickers Swirl. By the next day, all three had changed.
Culver’s vs. Kopp’s and Solly’s: which Milwaukee butter burger?
Culver’s is the convenient choice. Kopp’s Frozen Custard and Solly’s Grille are the local institutions. Culver’s wins on hours, drive-thrus and number of locations. Solly’s Grille in Glendale has served butter burgers since 1936 and is far more generous with the butter. Kopp’s has paired jumbo burgers with frozen custard since 1950, with stands in Glendale, Brookfield and Greenfield. I have not rated the three side by side, so this is a recommendation, not a ranking. If you are in Milwaukee for only a few meals, don’t spend your one butter burger on Culver’s: you can get a ButterBurger in a thousand towns. Save Culver’s for the late drive-thru or a game day, and give one meal to Solly’s or Kopp’s. Both are on our Milwaukee burger page.
A short history of Culver’s
Culver’s started in Wisconsin. George, Ruth, Craig and Lea Culver opened the first restaurant in Sauk City on July 18, 1984, under the name “Culver’s Frozen Custard and ButterBurgers.” Headquarters are still nearby, in Prairie du Sac. The family holds the majority. Roark Capital Group took a minority stake in October 2017. Craig Culver was CEO until 2015, then became chairman. Since April 2025 the CEO has been Julie Fussner, the first woman in the role. Today the chain counts about 1,000 restaurants in the US, mostly in the Midwest (Wikipedia).

How I checked this guide
Every address, phone number, hour and service in the table comes from the official culvers.com page of each location, checked on October 11, 2026. History comes from Wikipedia, BizTimes Milwaukee and WISN 12, cited inline. I left out what I could not verify: prices, Google and Yelp star ratings, payment methods, accessibility, parking, transit, delivery partners and vegetarian or gluten-free claims. Yelp also lists a fifth address on W Schroeder Dr. I found no official page for it and could not confirm whether it is in Milwaukee or Brown Deer, so it is not in the table.
