Ultimate Double Whopper Copycat Recipe for Two
I rebuilt Hungry Jack's Ultimate Double Whopper at home with flame-grilled patties, bacon, double cheese and the classic mayo-ketchup stack.

This ultimate double whopper copycat recipe makes 2 burgers that taste like Hungry Jack’s Ultimate Double Whopper in Australia. I use two flame-grilled beef patties per burger, two cheese slices, eye bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, mayonnaise and tomato sauce on a toasted sesame bun. Short version: mine is close, not cloned. This is a home reproduction, not the official Hungry Jack’s formula, based on the Australian product page checked on 2 October 2026.
Ultimate Double Whopper Copycat Recipe: What Makes It Taste Like Hungry Jack’s?
It tastes like Hungry Jack’s when you get three things right: beef grilled over open flame, a toasted sesame bun, and mayonnaise plus tomato sauce with fresh crunch on top.
I tested this twice in my kitchen. Hungry Jack’s says its Better Beef has no additives, preservatives, colours or fillers, is flame-grilled for smoky barbecue flavour, and is assembled to order — see flame-grilled Aussie beef at Hungry Jack’s. I cannot get that exact broiler at home. I get close with a very hot grill, coarse-ground beef with no filler, and toasting the bun.
Hungry Jack’s Ultimate Double Whopper Ingredients: The Official Lineup
The official Australian Ultimate Double Whopper contains two flame-grilled Aussie beef patties, two cheese slices, premium eye bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, onion, mayonnaise and tomato sauce on a toasted sesame bun.
That composition comes from the official Ultimate Double Whopper page, verified 2 October 2026. The base Whopper uses the same beef, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, mayonnaise and tomato sauce on a toasted sesame bun, described as an Aussie legend for 40+ years. The Double Whopper doubles the beef on the same base.
For context, Hungry Jack’s lists the Ultimate Double Whopper at 4401 kJ, 62.9 g protein, 80.8 g fat including 32.1 g saturated, 48.4 g carbs including 12.9 g sugars, and 1959 mg sodium. The Double Whopper is listed at 3543 kJ and 47.4 g protein. Current nutrition and allergen sheets are dated 26 September 2026 — see nutrition info hub.

Australia, October 2026 reference
This recipe refers to Australia in October 2026. Composition can vary by country and period. I do not cite a price or limited-time status because I could not verify it on 2 October 2026.
Ingredients for 2 Copycat Double Whoppers
These quantities are my plausible home choices for 2 burgers. Hungry Jack’s does not publish patty weight, cheese type, bacon count, sauce brands or garnish weights, so do not read these as official.
-
480 g coarse-ground Aussie beef mince (4 x 120 g patties), 80/20, cold, no filler, no seasoning in the mix — I use 110–125 g per patty as a working hypothesis because the exact Whopper patty weight is not published
-
Salt and cracked black pepper, to season just before grilling
-
2 large sesame burger buns, about 10 cm, split — or bake my homemade sesame burger buns
-
4 slices processed cheddar-style melting cheese (2 per burger) — my choice for melt, not the official specification
-
4 slices short-cut eye bacon (2 per burger) — my choice to match “premium eye bacon”
-
2 tbsp mayonnaise (about 15 g per burger) plus 1 tbsp tomato ketchup (about 8 g per burger)
-
4 crunchy lettuce leaves, torn to bun size
-
4 thick tomato slices (about 80 g total)
-
8 dill pickle chips (about 30 g total)
-
8 thin white onion rings (about 30 g total)
-
20 g soft butter for toasting, optional
How to Make Double Whopper at Home Flame Grilled
You get the closest flame-grilled flavour on a gas barbecue or charcoal grill running very hot, with thin patties cooked fast.
I preheat my grill to 260°C / 500°F. I do not use a pan for the patties if I can avoid it. Hungry Jack’s itself says the flame grill gives a smoky barbecue taste you cannot get from a pan.

1. Shape the patties
Divide the cold mince into four 120 g balls, then press into 11 cm rounds slightly wider than the bun. I make the centre a little thinner and press a dimple in the middle. I chill them 15 minutes so they hold on the grill.
2. Prep the fresh stack
Slice the tomato, onion and pickles. Wash and dry the lettuce well. I keep everything cold and ready because assembly is fast. I mix nothing — mayonnaise goes on one bun half, tomato sauce on the other, as listed by Hungry Jack’s.

3. Toast the buns
Butter the cut faces lightly. Toast cut-side down on the grill for 60–90 seconds until golden. I pull them off before the patties go on. A soft but toasted homemade sesame burger bun holds the double stack without tearing.
4. Grill the bacon, then the beef
Grill the eye bacon 2–3 minutes per side until crisp at the edges. Set aside warm. Season the patties with salt and pepper right before they hit the grill. Grill 2–2.5 minutes per side over direct high heat for medium, with the lid closed if using gas. I do not press them.
5. Melt the cheese
Lay one cheese slice on each patty in the last 60 seconds. I close the lid to melt it. For a double, I stack one cheese-topped patty directly on the other on the grill for 30 seconds so they fuse.

6. Assemble in Whopper order
Spread mayonnaise on the top bun, tomato sauce on the bottom bun. On the bottom add pickles, onion, lettuce, tomato, then the double cheesy patties, then bacon, then the top bun. I rest 1 minute so the cheese settles. Serve at once.

Why This Recipe Resembles the Original
It resembles the original because it keeps the official structure: double flame-grilled beef, double cheese, eye bacon, and mayo plus tomato sauce on toasted sesame. For my money, the bacon is non-negotiable — without it, it is just a Double Whopper with cheese.

What differs: I cannot replicate the chain broiler, the exact patty grind, or the exact cheese and sauce suppliers. My 120 g patty is a tested hypothesis, not the official weight. Like my earlier Mos Burger teriyaki burger copycat, this is presented as a home reproduction, never as leaked proprietary formula.
For wider chain context, see my notes on the 2026 burger value wars. The October 2026 Aussie beef menu also lists Big Jack, Cowboy Whopper, Bacon Deluxe and Grill Masters Angus variants — the Grill Masters Angus patty is listed at 1/3 lb pre-cook, while the classic Whopper comes in single, double or triple.
Copycat FAQ
What is the difference between Double Whopper, Double Whopper Cheese and Ultimate Double Whopper?
In Australia, the Double Whopper is the base Whopper with double beef. The Ultimate Double Whopper adds two cheese slices and premium eye bacon on top of that double-beef base, per the official product page.
How many calories and protein in an Ultimate Double Whopper?
Hungry Jack’s lists 4401 kJ with 62.9 g protein, 80.8 g fat and 1959 mg sodium. My home version will differ because my patty weight, cheese, bacon and sauces are my own choices.
How do I get flame-grilled taste without a barbecue?
You do not fully. I use a gas or charcoal grill at 260°C / 500°F with the lid closed. On a stove, a ripping-hot cast-iron grill pan gives char but not the same smoky drip-over-flame flavour — Hungry Jack’s makes the same point about pan cooking.
What bun and cheese work best?
I use a soft 10 cm sesame bun, lightly toasted, and processed cheddar-style slices for melt. Hungry Jack’s specifies a toasted sesame bun and two cheese slices but does not publish the exact cheese type I could verify.
