Lawless Burgerbar is a Jakarta burger chain founded by two members of the metal band Seringai, vocalist Arian Arifin and bassist Sammy Bramantyo, together with business partners. The first branch opened on Jl. Kemang Selatan in South Jakarta in 2017. Sammy Bramantyo now runs the company, PT Lawless Burgerbar Asia, as CEO. The burger to order is The Lemmy: a double beef patty with cheese, beef bacon, beef brisket and a fried egg, listed at IDR 125,000 to 149,000. Cheaper items start at IDR 39,000. Two brand collaborations since April 2026 show the chain is still active. No other Jakarta burger has a backstory this loud.
Who founded Lawless Burgerbar?
Lawless Burgerbar was founded by Seringai’s Arian Arifin and Sammy Bramantyo with business partners. How many partners depends on the source. In 2017, The Jakarta Post called the two musicians two of the burger bar’s four founders. The payment company DOKU lists five founders of the wider Lawless brand: Arian Arifin, Gofar Hilman, Ucup, Sammy Bramantyo and Roni Pramaditia. detikFood says Sammy and Arian founded Lawless Jakarta and Gofar Hilman joined later.
No primary source settles the count. All three agree on the part that matters: members of a metal band started this business.
Sammy Bramantyo, the bassist who runs the business
Sammy Bramantyo is the bassist of Seringai and the CEO of PT Lawless Burgerbar Asia, the company behind the burger bars. Cocreate profiled his move from hobby to business in 2018, and the Indonesian business press names him as CEO.
Arian Arifin, Seringai’s vocalist, was the public face of the launch in 2017. He told The Jakarta Post that the key to a great burger is the beef patty, cooked just right so it stays juicy. His favourite on the menu at the time was the Sabbath Burger. I could not confirm what role he has had in the business since 2017, so this profile covers only his launch-era role.
From a metal and biker shop to a burger bar
Lawless started in 2011 as a lifestyle store, not a restaurant. According to DOKU and detikFood, Lawless Jakarta sold merchandise and brought together custom motorcycles, hardcore and metal music, and tattoos. The burger bar came out of that scene six years later.
The original branch is on Jl. Kemang Selatan. The Jakarta Post describes a packed opening day at the end of August 2017, while DOKU gives 3 September 2017. The house motto set the tone from day one: “Healthy Food Sucks”.
On 9 June 2021, PT Lawless Jakarta and PT Lawless Burgerbar Asia announced that co-founder Gofar Hilman was no longer part of Lawless Jakarta. The statement followed a sexual-assault allegation against him, as reported by detikFood and The Jakarta Post.
The Lawless Burgerbar concept: burgers named after metal
Every Lawless burger is named after a metal band, a musician or a lyric. The Lemmy honours Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister. The Sabbath Burger nods to Black Sabbath, Motley Burg to Mötley Crüe and Philly Anselmo to Pantera’s singer. Manual Jakarta describes the Menteng branch as a two-storey dining room covered in rock and metal posters.

There is also an anti-waste side. In October 2024, Medcom reported on the “Unwasted Waste” programme: trays come with biodegradable wrappers printed in soy-based ink, so diners can wrap up what they do not finish and take it home.
Lawless Burgerbar menu: the signature burgers
The burger to order at Lawless is The Lemmy, the double-patty signature named after Motörhead’s frontman. The Jakarta Post (2017) and Manual Jakarta (2020) both name these long-running items:
- The Lemmy: double beef patty, cheese, beef bacon, beef brisket and a fried egg (“sunny side up” for The Jakarta Post, “over-easy” for Manual Jakarta).
- Sabbath Burger: Arian Arifin’s favourite at launch.
- Motley Burg: beef patty with bacon in a BLT build.
- Madballs: New York-style meatball sandwich with marinara, cheddar and mozzarella.
- Joey Bellodona: the vegetarian burger, a portobello mushroom with dill dressing.
- Jalapenostic Front: jalapeño cheese fries.
Limited editions keep the menu moving. Bakken, inspired by the Tekken video games, ran at all six outlets from January to 15 February 2023. It had a beef patty, beef bacon, pickles, garlic aioli, onions and cheese (ANTARA). Master of Nuggets reached every outlet on 11 January 2025, in boxes of 6, 12 or 24 with sweet and sour, spicy mustard or BBQ mayo sauce (JPNN).
2026 collaborations: Vans and BRACI
Lawless has run two collaborations in 2026. Vans x Lawless Burgerbar Part 2 put the Off The Law Red Chili Burger and a Melon Grab Mocktail on every menu for one month from 30 April 2026. It launched with a party at Blok M where Seringai played a DJ set (IDN Times). BRACI x Lawless Burgerbar ran from 25 June to 5 July 2026 and included a barbecue-pit takeover in Bandung on 25 and 26 June. Their first collaboration had sold more than 1,000 burgers in two days (AyoJakarta).
Lawless Burgerbar prices
Prices at Lawless Burgerbar start at IDR 39,000 (Jawapos, July 2026). The Lemmy is the most expensive item, at IDR 125,000 to 149,000 depending on the listing. No official 2026 menu is online. The table below comes from a Foodierate contributor’s listing posted about 11 months before my check on 23 October 2026, so treat it as indicative.
| Item | Indicative price (IDR) |
|---|---|
| The Lemmy | 135,000 (other listings: 125,000–149,000) |
| Enter Sandwich | 85,000 |
| Philly Anselmo | 75,000 |
| Motley Burg | 57,000 |
| Sabbath Burger | 52,000 |
| Joey Bellodona | 47,000 |
| Madballs | 45,000 |
Lawless Burgerbar prices compared: indicative prices in Indonesian rupiah, from IDR 45,000 for Madballs to IDR 135,000 for The Lemmy (Foodierate contributor listing, checked 23 October 2026). (Chart: Burger Breton, CC BY 4.0, data from Foodierate (https://www.foodierate.com/brand/lawless-burgerbar/menus))
The Lemmy costs three times as much as a Madballs. On a tighter budget, I would pick the Sabbath Burger at IDR 52,000, the one Arian Arifin named as his favourite.

Is Lawless Burgerbar still worth visiting?
Yes. Lawless Burgerbar is still trading in 2026, and it is still Jakarta’s clearest example of a burger brand built on a music scene. According to DOKU, it won Jakarta’s Best Eats 2019 in Casual Dining, and MerahPutih media named it a “Top 10 Survivor of The Year” in 2020. During the pandemic it sold burger kits to assemble at home, launched Lawless Donuts and switched to QR-code ordering.
My take comes from the sources, not from a meal. Go to Kemang for the history, or to Menteng for the poster-covered two-storey room, and order The Lemmy if you are hungry. Go for the identity rather than for any promise about the beef: no source I found gives the patty weight or says where the meat comes from. What’s New Indonesia and TheSmartLocal both include Lawless in their best-burger lists. For the wider picture, see our Jakarta burger hub, from Senopati to Kemang.
How I put this profile together
I built this profile from published sources, cross-checked on 23 October 2026. I did not eat at Lawless. The sources are The Jakarta Post (2017), Manual Jakarta (2020), detikFood (2021), DOKU, ANTARA (2023), Medcom (2024), JPNN (2025), IDN Times and AyoJakarta (2026), plus Foodierate for dated, indicative menu and branch data. I left out anything that only one unverified source reports, including the head chef’s name, beef sourcing, patty weight and any expansion outside Indonesia.
