Chicken Republic is the fast-food chain Lagos built. It was founded in Apapa in 2004 and is now Nigeria’s largest by outlet count. For a first stop, two well-reviewed Island branches are 10 Admiralty Way in Lekki Phase I (daily, 7am–10pm) and 271A Ajose Adeogun Street on Victoria Island (daily, 7am–9pm). Order the Chief Burger (₦4,500) or the cheaper ChickWhizz sandwich (₦2,800). Both prices come from an unofficial list dated September 2025, so expect to pay more today. Know one thing before you go: this is a chicken chain first. Burgers share the menu with fried, grilled and roasted chicken, jollof rice and spaghetti, and they are not the main event.

Chicken Republic history: a Lagos brand since 2004

Chicken Republic has been a Lagos brand from day one. Its first restaurant opened in Apapa in 2004, and it has since grown into Nigeria’s largest fast-food chain. The parent group is older. According to Wikipedia, Food Concepts was incorporated on 6 December 1999 as Food Concepts & Entertainment Limited.

The founder, Deji Akinyanju, worked at Accenture in London before he started the business. Wikipedia says the chain began with a franchise relationship with South Africa’s Chicken Licken and later became an independent Nigerian brand. Wikipedia is the only source I found for that part of the story, so treat it with caution.

Growth came fast. By April 2013, BusinessDay counted 65 restaurants in 14 Nigerian cities and in Ghana. That year three Lagos branches were refurbished: Bode Thomas in Surulere, Marina and Jibowu. Kofi Abunu now leads Food Concepts as Managing Director and CEO. Wikipedia dates his appointment to March 2022, and Marketing Edge quoted him in that role at the brand’s 20th anniversary in 2024.

How many restaurants are there today? It depends on who you ask. At the 20th anniversary in 2024, the company claimed “over 300 outlets in Nigeria and Ghana”. Intelpoint’s November 2024 data counted about 200, which is still more than double the 84 of its closest rival, Kilimanjaro. Neither source gives a Lagos figure, and I won’t guess one.

Chicken Republic branches in Lagos: addresses and opening hours

Chicken Republic publishes no official store locator. Its old website, chicken-republic.com, now redirects to foodconceptsplc.com, which lists no branches, menu or prices. That is a strange gap for the country’s biggest chain. The details below therefore come from public listings (Waze, Wanderlog, Chowdeck) that I checked on 26 October 2026. Call the branch before you cross town.

Chicken Republic Lekki: Admiralty Way

Of the branches I could check, this one keeps the longest hours: 7am to 10pm, every day.

  • Address: 10 Admiralty Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos 100246
  • Phone: +234 809 016 5914
  • Hours: daily, 7am–10pm
  • Source: Waze listing, checked 26 October 2026 (aggregator, not confirmed by the chain)

Chicken Republic Victoria Island: Ajose Adeogun

The Victoria Island branch has the most public reviews of any branch I checked: 4.0/5 on Google from 2,805 reviews.

  • Address: 271A Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos 106104
  • Phone: +234 809 016 5942
  • Hours: daily, 7am–9pm
  • Google rating: 4.0/5 (2,805 reviews), via Wanderlog, checked 26 October 2026

Chicken Republic Ikeja: Agidingbi drive-thru

If you are driving on the Mainland, Agidingbi is the branch to know, because it has a drive-thru. In June 2024, the local paper Ikeja Record called it “a favourite fast-food franchise” and praised its prices, while noting that the budget meals had crept up. I found no verified street number or opening hours for it.

Chicken Republic Idimu (Alimosho) for delivery

Idimu, in Alimosho, is a delivery branch more than a destination. Chowdeck rates it 4.2/5 from more than 4,100 reviews, quotes 20 to 30 minutes for delivery and shows an 8am opening. When I checked, its promotions were Citizens BOGOF and BigWhizz.

Apapa, the first Chicken Republic

Apapa is where it all began. I could not confirm the address of that first restaurant or whether it still trades, so I have not listed it as a branch to visit.

Chicken Republic menu and prices in naira

Chicken is the core of the menu: fried, grilled or roasted, served with jollof rice or spaghetti. Wraps, burgers and sandwiches fill out the rest. Sides include chips (fries), rice, coleslaw and salads, and combo deals bundle a main, a side and a drink. The chain has also sold “Refuel” value meals, but I could not confirm they still run.

None of the prices below come from the chain. They come from unofficial lists, the newest dated September 2025, and the naira has seen high inflation since then. Prices also differ from branch to branch. Treat them as a floor, not a quote, and check the price in the restaurant or delivery app before you order.

Item What it is Price Source and date
ChickWhizz Signature chicken sandwich ₦2,800 Nigerian Price Guide, 24 Sep 2025
Chief Burger Fried chicken patty, cheese, house sauce ₦4,500 Nigerian Price Guide, 24 Sep 2025
Chief Burger Combo Chief Burger with chips and a bottled drink ₦7,100 PriceListo, undated
Citizens Meal 2 pieces of chicken, a side and a drink ₦5,200 PriceListo, undated
Citizens Meal, no drink 2 pieces of chicken and a side ₦4,800 PriceListo, undated

Chicken Republic Lagos prices in naira: ChickWhizz ₦2,800 and Chief Burger ₦4,500 (Nigerian Price Guide, 24 Sep 2025); Citizens Meal ₦4,800 without a drink, ₦5,200 with one, and Chief Burger Combo ₦7,100 (PriceListo, undated). Unofficial prices that vary by branch. (Chart: Burger Breton (original), CC BY 4.0; data: Nigerian Price Guide (24 Sep 2025), PriceListo (undated))

Chief Burger vs ChickWhizz: which burger to order

My pick on value is the ChickWhizz, the chain’s signature chicken sandwich, at ₦2,800 in September 2025. The Chief Burger is the bigger order, a fried chicken patty with cheese and the house sauce according to the Nigerian Price Guide. At ₦4,500 it cost about 60% more. The ₦1,700 gap covers more than half of a second ChickWhizz, and I don’t think a slice of cheese and a sauce justify it. The chain does not publish the Chief Burger’s current recipe. I also found no confirmed beef burger and no burger sold only in Lagos.

If you came for beef, this is the wrong stop. The local order in Lagos is the suya burger, spiced with yaji like the street grills, and our page on the best burgers in Lagos, Island and Mainland shows which neighbourhoods to look in.

Value meals: from the Egg Star Meal to Citizens BOGOF

Cheap meals are part of the brand. In April 2022, as Nigeria’s economic crisis deepened, Chicken Republic launched the Egg Star Meal at ₦500: egg with white rice or spaghetti and sauce (Gazette Nigeria). In October 2026, Chowdeck listed a Citizens BOGOF (buy one, get one free) at the Idimu branch. Chains everywhere are fighting on price this year, as our report on the 2026 burger value wars shows.

Chicken Republic Lagos reviews: what customers say

Customers rate the Victoria Island branch 4.0/5 on Google from 2,805 reviews: positive, not glowing. The same comments keep coming back on Wanderlog.

  • Praised: tasty, affordable meals; the ice cream; a tidy interior; fast service.
  • Criticised: few seats; the odd chipped plate; service that depends on who is serving you.
  • Tip from reviewers: go outside peak hours.

Delivery customers rate the Idimu branch 4.2/5 from more than 4,100 Chowdeck reviews. Tripadvisor blocked access when I checked, and I don’t publish a Tripadvisor or Yelp score I could not read myself. These are customer ratings from the platforms, not a Burger Breton verdict. I have not rated a branch.

Chicken Republic delivery in Lagos: Chowdeck and Glovo

Chicken Republic delivers in Lagos through Chowdeck and Glovo. According to The Guardian Nigeria, its Glovo partnership covers 58 restaurants in Lagos, Abuja and Ibadan. Chowdeck lists more than 90 Chicken Republic restaurants across Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Ibadan.

When the go-slow, as Lagosians call the traffic, makes the trip longer than the meal, order in. On the Mainland, the Agidingbi drive-thru is the quickest way to pick up food without parking.

Crossing it at rush hour is why delivery via Chowdeck or Glovo often beats the trip to a Chicken Republic branch. What I could not confirm

No verified source covers the following, so I have left them out: payment methods, wheelchair access, parking, nearby public transport, table booking, vegetarian or halal options, the street address and hours of the Agidingbi and Idimu branches, and whether BOGOF offers and Refuel meals run beyond the listings above in 2026. Ask the branch directly.
